Quick Video – Volvo 245 Wagon Goes Adrift

Capture

I was looking for some Wagon Wednesday inspiration (yeah, yeah, it’s Thursday now), when I ran across a 1975 245 wagon spending most of its days sideways. What at first appears to be a boring brown wagon quickly shows itself to be a BMW killer. Check it out.

The idea of a wagon that performs like a coupe isn’t new, but it is very intriguing to me. Much like a pickup, it has room to haul everything you need, it’s inconspicuous, and is the perfect platform for any engine swap you can imagine. If it were mine, I would keep it mostly stock, with just a few go-fast goodies under the hood to make things interesting. You?

I believe the proper term is “slideways”.

It’s the perfect generation 240, and I like that it is relatively stock looking. But it’s ability to go hunting proper, or any forest road based activity really, is greatly reduced by being lowered so much. Again.
