NYIAS: Last Night

Rand Rover sport

We are here, at the 2013 New York Show, and have just sobered up from last night’s parties. I haven’t heard from Jeff and I assume the worst. I will contact his next of kin, the two dachshunds.

Myself, I spent most of my evening with the nice folks from Jaguar and Land Rover. First they showed me the XKR-S GT, which is a lighter and more track-worthy XKR-S. Then they premired the Jaguar XJR, which is the XJ with the XKR-S engine. Both cars looked great.

Then…

Then I saw this Aston, randomly parked on the street, next to a cool mural. There are so many interesting cars on NYC streets, almost more interesting than the show.

Racy Jag.

Anyway, then I went to a quick and small Honda party. There was an updated Odyssey, which had a ShowVac vacuum cleaner in the trunk. The vacuum cleaner runs off the car battery, only when parked, and can reach the front foot wells.

The Odyssey also had minor face-lifting and trim clean up. All in all, a very nice minivan, but probably pricey when fully loaded. Also saw John Davis from Motorweek at that party. Sadly, he did not know what the Hooniverse was, so I told him that it’s like that other website but better. 😛

Back to Land Rover. While having drink #5, I noticed some hot chicks were taking pictures with some dude.

“That dude looks just like Daniel Craig… but shorter, and he’s wearing skinny jeans, so it cannot be the him, I mean fucking James Bond, no way” I thought.

It was him, and he drove the Range Rover Sport onto the stage too. Also, I want a new Range Rover.

Daniel Craig looks like my dad. Alright, he looks like my dad about 30 year ago, since my dad's in his 70s now, but they're seriously very similar looking.
Which sometimes makes it slightly weird when I'm watching a Bond film.

Out of all that, this is admittedly an odd thing for me to focus on, but regardless… There was a vacuum in the minivan? Like, as a feature? Why has this never been a thing before? It almost seems like a no-brainer. Minivans are for people with kids. Kids make a mess. Vacuums clean up messes. 1+1 = vacuum.

With the Hooniverse's focus on power I propose to use any van's existing vents as vacuum channels. It would need a lot of power, but the automatic vacuuming after locking the doors, sucking in Starbuck's cups, diapers and leftover toys with a loud "FOOOMP!" will add a new layer of prestige to vans. Or not.

Add infrared interior scanning, accompanied by the James Bond theme being played on the 186 speaker stereo. Issue fixed.

Check this concept by Ford back in the day. Way ahead of its time. Too bad they never implemented it.
