Mystery Car

Happy April 28th. It was on this day in 2011 that Prince William and Catherine Middleton got hitched and rode off to their royal wedding night in William’s father—Prince Charles’—Aston Martin Volante DB6 MKII.
That’s a beautiful car and William and Kate make for a damn-fine looking couple. Few of us will ever know the trappings of royalty, but I’m sure some of you will know the identity of this week’s Mystery Car. Make and model please.

I know this isn’t right, but it’s got to be something of this style, where the cut line for the bumper cover makes a sort of “face mask”… or rear end mask as the case may be. I’m struggling with the basic logic of figuring which way that directional tire is facing.

I think you’re right, but the lack of a sidemarker in that spot has thwarted all of my guesses thus far.

Yup… it’s not an NSX either which was my second guess.

The cutline reminds me of the fascia / quarter-panel intersection on a Challenger, but if it were that then there should be a marker light in the image.

Early S197 too… no marker. Wheel even looks like a Ford torque thrust.

But the Corvette doesn’t have that line around the wheel opening.

They don’t drive as well as they look. But they do look great, one of Gandini’s masterpieces from his time at Bertone. If HOW it drives is important as looks, might I suggest the same stylist’s work for Citroen, the BX.
