Long Shots: 1948 Chevy Street Rod

IMG_2939
So the other day this olelongrooffan was heading back to my new pad, the loft, and a cool old street rod was parked outside a nearly ubiquitous real estate office and I thought it would be a perfect Long Shot to share with my fellow Hoons. Now while this ole Bowtie is no longer a trailer queen by any stretch of the imagination, it sure is purty to look at. Feel free to make the jump to see more of this cool, old school street rod.

Yeah this ride is more than a few years old, I pick it to be early 90’s based on an uneducated guess on those chrome wheels it was sporting. But the streamlined doors and the teardrop mirrors just shout that era out to this olelongrooffan.

The frenched tail lights and pin stripes further this conclusion. And as this olelongrooffan checks out this photo image again, I realize that I need to modify the classification of this post to include Fastback Friday.

I include this image as there may be a Hoon somewhere who may be interested in purchasing this classic street rod. My fellow Hoons may think this is a stretch until this olelongrooffan mentions that just last week, the Missus Mad Science forwarded an email to me from some Hoon down in Brazil looking to purchase the grill and headlight bezzles from a VW/Audi Fox/Polo I spotted while Hooning around a U-Pull-It up there in the World Center of Racing a whiles back.

It is interesting, at least to this olelongrooffan, how much the nose of this ’48 Chevy resembles the nose of the 48-53 “Advanced Design” Stovebolt Bowtie trucks which my brother, Bus_Plunge favors so much.

And the interior of this street rod has been seriously modernized with genuine GM components and I would suspect a SBC is lurking under its bonnet. But the coolest part of this ole street rod, at least to this olelongrooffan is

this cool *ssed split wind screen with that junction of these two pieces of windshield being the only straight line on this ride.

Isn't it interesting how true graduation of shade or colour disappears in digital images and is replaced by a series of fractally broken stripes. I wonder how long we'll have to put up with this digital artifact side effect.

In my opinion, a lot of used cars can be more trouble than they’re worth. My old car was giving me so many problems, I eventually decided I could save money by selling it and starting fresh. http://www.salemycartoday.com this car is beautiful though- id be tempted to buy it if i knew it was in good condition
