Last Call: Why Бабушка, What Big Choppers You Have Edition

Big Choppers
The Russian Mil Mi-26 Helicopter is considered the world’s largest and most powerful production chopper. Its size is not apparent in photos unless it’s in contrast to some other, well-known commodity like this Bell 206 JetRanger. The Russian bird holds the record for the 2,000-meter lift with 56,768.8 kilograms. With that capability it could conceivably lift over fifty of the smaller Bells.
Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.

I don’t know why I do it, but I posted a comment on Jalopnik today.
I swear, you have to be outlandishly off in order for them to grasp the sarcasm. Subtlety gets you nowhere over there now. The Oppo crowd is still wonderful, but it’s nearly intolerable at times.

I tried Jalopnik once. Asking if the M3 discussed was better than a Fiesta ST. Replies flew about how the RWD BMW was superior and I was an idiot. I posted a link to Matt Farrah’s poo storm he created. Then they asked what the link was for… really?

There must be an “in Russia…” joke in there – it surely is big enough.

    This, the An-225, the Ekranoplan…
I guess a country spanning an entire continent tends to beget the “Everything is bigger in…” syndrome.
Not that I am complaining. Humongous man-made machines are always awe-inspiring.

its predecessor (Mil Mi10) was even larger albeit not as powerful as Mi26.

And they’re still making four Mi26s a year.
