Last Call: Three's Company Edition

Pininfarina built the first mid-engine Ferrari road car in 1966, because Enzo Ferrari wouldn’t. The 365 P “Tre Posti” isn’t just the first road-going car to carry its Ferrari twelve cylinder behind the seats, it’s also—along with its twin brother—the only three-place Ferrari in the world. Based on chassis from two of the NART-competing 365 P2 cars, the Tre Posti cars presaged both the styling and the engine position of the Dino 206 by two years. It would be fully seven years before il Cavallino Rampante graced a mid-engined twelve-cylinder car commissioned not as a one-off, but as a fully sanctioned production model, the 365 Berlinetta Boxer.

    That was a cool ride….maybe a little too far stretched in the rear but three seats abroad should have lead the industry…the v12 could have been a v8 and I would have been just as impressed…..
    Back in the early 70s or late 60s…I don’t remember the exact date…the Dino was second to the muira s as the coolest street sports car….for us car enthusiasts…
    To this day I remember the muira priced at 19,995 and thinking how expensive that was….today that buys an economy box

    One of these cars is on display at the Simone Foundation in Philadelphia. A museum that all car geeks need to visit. With that said let me say that I found it to be the ugliest Ferraris that I had ever seen in person.

    This was meant to be a just a show car, but Fiat president Gianni Agnelli liked it so much, he commissioned Pininfarina a second example. Here he is behind the wheel :

    Weekend Update:
    Vacation’s over, goodbye knobbies, hello streets. Both bikes got a wash and chain clean/lube. Suzuki also gets the 15 tooth front sprocket back, and the 14 goes on the shelf. I’m considering getting a dedicated chain and sprocket setup for the dirt wheels. How many ratios can one chain work with? Maybe a more toothy rear sprocket to go with the 14t front. You should really keep the three components matched to each other, though.
    Steve The Unremarkable White Pickup was going to get a front end greasing, after 8 trips through the river (fords are bad for chevs!), but Steve really needs a front-end alignment after 75 miles of washboard road and 100,000 miles on the clock, so later.
