All waiting for their leader.

I’m not sure 150k is that big of a deal, but I used to deal with a number of Chevettes (the North American version of that generation Kadett, albeit from the darkest days of Roger Smith) that all got up to about 250k where the odometer stopped working.

It’s hardly been driven over 36 years – just a neat portrait of a man and his car, I think. There are a couple of old guys here holding on to their ancient cars; like a local man and his Mazda 929 wagon.

I just found this
http://www.blocket.se/hassleholm/Volvo_264_TE_1979_61260578.htm?ca=4&w=3
A very rare brick of Volvo-pride, made in Italy by Bertone and yours for only 190000 SEK. And look at that interior O_O-
Wow is that ugly and unnecessary
-
You’re confusing that with the 262C Bertone. THAT was ugly & unnecessary.
I’m quite enamored of the elongated brick that we never got in the states. Maybe not for that kinda price, but it has a certain appeal for those of us who fancy Gothenburg’s blocky bits.-
I’ll take the Bertone any day over this overly extended thing anyday. Lower a 262C and put fat tires on and im ready to roll. This limo thing looks like it will snap in half
-
Are you saying this is a flimsy looking 240? I will come back to you after I have digested that oxymoron.
Anyway, taste is nothing to argue about. I’m just happy people are starting to take care of these. There’s also a fan scene for the GDR-only 244 DLS now. Special cars need special care in order to survive. -
I agree and it’s funny, everytime I see one, my head always follows it down the street. Such a Unitarian design that still manages to catch the eye
-
There was also an extended-length wagon – the 245T.

$22,000 USD seems a bit steep. I guess the question here is whether or not rarity equates to valuable. That being said, I do love the plush Bordello Blue interior!
-
I think it’s lovely. They also used to be cheaper in East Germany, where most of them ended up, but a quick mobile.de-search reveals stiff prices. A good one was rypically ~12000€ not long ago. Some people ask double that now.

Long Volvo is long.
And I would do unspeakable things in order to do unspeakable things in the back of that longredblock.
I fear I’m about to blow my social post limit now, but has anybody here opted for Windows 10 yet? I’m writing this in Edge on a freshly converted Windows 10 machine – on an old Windows 7 Samsung R530 low budget notebook. Works smoothly, I’m impressed so far.
-
I installed my reserved copy of Windows 10 last Thursday on a new i5 Dell and had a non-working taskbar and start button within two hours. I reverted back to 8.1 without problems and have decided to wait a few months before trying Win 10 again.
-
Sort of expected a couple of early adopters here…how strange that a new machine should experience issues like that. Did you try to solve it first? I’m thinking like you and dead_elvis when it comes to important household machines, but had to try it. The Windows 7 notebook was getting slow and cramped, and is an extra anyway (my wife’s VPN work machine for when our server notebook is occupied).
-
I spent a couple of hours trying to fix the problems but with no success, then decided that it was easier to stick with 8.1 for a while longer. However, it seems from the net that most people have not had problems with the upgrade. I’d say Windows 10 is worth a try as long as you are certain that you can revert back to your old system.

did you do a fresh install or an in-place upgrade?
i just set this machine up with Win7 a few months ago, but i’ve had bad experiences with upgrades. (to be fair, Windows ME wasn’t going to be good no matter how one installed it.)-
In order to get the free upgrade, you have to do the in-place installation. It wouldn’t even work burning an ISO to a DVD – it has to be done in a running system.
Also, there are about 10-12 total surveillance options during the installation that are opt out (documentation of internet, app and program, text typing and connection using habits, pre-loads and full access to email, contacts, telephone numbers). Always leaves a bad feeling in someone who grew up with the STASI around.

Just got notice that my upgrade is available. I figure I’ll wait a few weeks for the early adopters to figure out where the glitches lie, and hopefully MS will have them smoothed out by the time I can simply no longer tolerate Windows 8.
-
Having worked for MS back in the 90s doing OS support one thing I always recommend is to wait for the first Service Pack release before upgrading. It doesn’t matter how much beta testing is done there will always be issues that pop up during the initial release that no one anticipated. But then, that’s what all of you early adopters are for, to make things easier for the rest of us.
-
I upgraded as soon as possible, mostly because I do what Windows tells me to do. Probably not the smartest…
This is written on a (former) WIndow 8 Acer thingamabob I bought for school.
It spends most of it’s time with Hooniverse open, even at school.
-
That sounds about right – the learning curve is steep around here. Any issues?
My wife did some work on the Samsung last night and she just loved Windows 10. Everything works, including her VPN, and the machine is noticeably quicker. It also looks great. I’m mighty impressed by Microsoft; who would have thought…?-
No issues so far with 10. We don’t get Cortana in Canada, yet, which is kinda annoying.
Oh, and reorganizing the favourites bar in Edge is next to impossible, which is why I’m using Chrome until they fix that.

My International’s not a Scout and I’ve never spent any time around them, so I’ll have to ask: Is there some reason this Mystery-Car-worthy view received its own photo, or is it just typical Craigslist randomness?

That’s the windshield hold-down. The seller touts the cool factor of having a fold-down windshield, but doesn’t actually fold it down and take a pic.
Since this is a restoration and not, as the seller also claims, an all original I assume they don’t want to scratch that Earl Scheib paint.

I find it funny that best Scout he’s ever seen is only worth a 9/10 rating.
