Last Call: Old Cadillac cool hiding in traffic

I was driving up the 5 Freeway the other day. This is a place where you typically see all sorts of vehicles. California is good for car spotting in that way. Still, it’s rare for something to truly catch my eye and make me want to snap a pic. New supercar? Meh. Mega off-road rig? Mildly interested. Vintage drop-top Cadillac? Yes, you have my attention if though the traffic around me should have that attention. I didn’t snap a good pic of this one, but I did catch a glimpse… and I still want to own one of these someday.

I envy you for California’s roads, for the twisty ones that point upwards and those that have the pulse-accelerating content like the one above.

Moving to Norway has thus been a bummer because rare or interesting cars that exist used to mostly stay hidden in barns and collections. But the pandemic did something there. People suddenly had more time, an incentive to use their gems because the end is nigh and all that, and everybody seems to have had a blast on the stockmarket, with more people buying cool or classic cars – and driving them. It’s a very real and noticeable trend. Still not California, but the slightest hint of it.

It’s a ’62 but that’s about as much as I can say from this shot.
