Last Call- Now and Then Edition

LA 3rd & Hill Los Angeles is famous for its impermanence. In the city that Hollywood calls home, individuals and the city itself reinvent on a regular schedule. This pair of shots shows the 3rd Street tunnel running under Bunker Hill in both 1901 and 1986 and is an example of how drastic that change can be. The hill that once bordered downtown has over the years sublimated into condos. Angel’s Flight too has moved blocks away and serves as little more than an object of tourists rather than a respite for servants sent shopping in the downtown Grand Markets, which have themselves become kitsch and fodder for tourists.

Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.
