Last Call: I miss the Toyota GT 4586

In case you aren’t aware, there’s a GT 86 that’s been engine swapped with a Ferrari 458 engine. Now that you’re up to speed, let’s take a second to appreciate how amazing it is! Built for Formula DRIFT in 2016 where it was driven by Ryan Tuerck. Even though 86s have been V8 swapped a million times, it’s different when you try and slam in one that’s meant for a mid-engine car. The 458 engine isn’t designed for a front-engined 86 so everything’s all backward. That’s why you can see the exhaust coming out the front before shooting out the side of the front bumper.

Despite all the challenges they had to overcome, they did it and it sounds so smooth. The 86 is a great looking car no doubt, but the trumpet-like exhaust note can become a bit annoying. So seeing this beast slide around with an Italian opera bellow from its throat is definitely a beautiful sight to behold.

I miss the rains down in Aaaaaafricaaaa..

Also, I discovered two great youtube channels recently – VHS rallies with lots of rally footage from the 80s, including the circuit of Ireland passing through my home town of Waterford, which I’ve vague memories of.

..and a similar VHS archive channel, motorsport.ie which includes one of Sennas very early Formula Ford career wins racing at the Leinster Trophy in Mondello in Kildare.

Speaking of Ireland, we have plans to take the kids there this summer. Worried that’s not going to happen, with all of the COVID-19 preventive measures. Bummed– Ireland’s been on my travel bucket list for decades.

Shame, but hopefully the chance will come up again, I’m pretty sure the tourist industry will be gagging for business once this is over. Ireland is pretty much closed right now, and we’ve not really hit peak yet.
