Yup…it’s still available.
While the official listing price (on my buddy Craig’s Lists in both Los Angeles and Orange County) has dropped down to $3300, it’s important to know that things have actually improved on the SS Country Sedan since the last time I brought it up. Specifically, it’s idling like it should, sports dual temp-controlled electric fans to keep the resting temps down, and the wipers (and squirters!) work. Also, I’ve got a replacement power brake booster sitting in a box.
I’m a pretty motivated seller for the next roughly 45 days, after which point it’ll be off the market and transitioned back to project car mode. In the mean time, hit up my previous write up, the craigslist ads (1, 2), and my flickr set and drop me a line if you’re interested.

You know how to sweeten the deal, good sir.

There's a lot that's awesome about this car, but I'll be surprised if anyone will shell out three grand with all that body rust. The only way I see around it would be to finally sort every mechanical issue and then clean the engine bay and interior completely– then it's clearly participating in the new aesthetic of the mechanically fine but patinaed-to-hell enthusiast car, something already being signalled by the matte grey finish. damn that is one good looking Datsun… and I am not even a huge fan of patina.

I've been following Yuta Akaishi's BLOG
for awhile. His crew gets a lot of Speed Hunters coverage. -
I just sold my datsun. It had patina in spades. And a slight tendency for catching fire.

All that body rust? Here in Michigan that car would be considered "showroom condition!" I'd buy it for that price all day long, if I knew that I wouldn't have damn near that much in gas to go get it.

I would so be all over that if it were closer and I had the scratch. Love everything about it. I know that doesn't help per se, but maybe it counts as a moral victory? Though I do worry how much more it the rust would progress given its theoretical relocation to the midwest. Since it would be a daily driver and all. Theoretically.

Por15 is your friend. And I think they even make it in gray now.
I'm in your boat. If it wasn't coastal, I'd be sorely tempted. And I'm not even the Ford type.

Has the gas filler door been put back on?

Well at least the interior is in good shape. There was one at Fab Fords, same color obvious rust issues as well but with a "Redone interior" meaning he just spraypainted the seats and interior with what looked like appliance paint, holes and all. It was for sale too $8500.

eBay, have a few northern friends post the add on Facebook (have you moved into this crazy thing yet?), and hope for the best. Guys up north will love it, guys down south will haggle on the rust… because we're spoiled like that.
