Jensen Interceptor Twofer – $8500

Here at Hooniverse, we’re big fans of European tourers with stonking American powerplants. The Jensen Interceptor is one such peanut butter and chocolate mashup. Not unlike the Pantera, Interceptors have stayed surprisingly cheap. Maybe it’s the 70s British build quality or the auto-only option. Whatever the reason, we’re stoked to come across not one, but two Interceptors for $8500, total.
The seller says both are “in the process of restoration”, so whether that means vermin removal and massive sheet metal repairs or paint and a few trim bits is anyone’s guess. Still, at that price for the pair, you could do a lot worse.

So tempting, I'm relieved that this opportunity is half a continent away.

Ditto, my dark side is trying to convince me that 3,000 miles isn't that far!

British electrical bits worry me. Maybe it's an irrational fear, or maybe there's some merit to it, I don't know. Either way, I'm pretty sure having two of these things in my garage would give me hives.

I have always liked these cars but have never seen one in person. The asking price is probably good for somebody who has the passion for Jensen.

Lovely cars. Even though the Prince of Darkness lives on with these beauties, at least you can depend on the good old Dodge 383 and Torqueflite lasting forever. However, if that rear window ever gets broken, you're done. Good luck replacing it.

Looking at the picture of the white one in the ad, there appears to be a tarp covering the back.

You might be right. There isn't a clear shot of the rear of the white one.
If that's the case, broken unobtanium rear window, what do you do, aminoize it? Gut it, cage it, stick a blower on the engine and go drag racing?

I'm thinking chop the top off and make a convertible. It shouldn't be too hard to make/modify some sort of convertible top. The guys on Top Gear made one for a van! The car is in LA, just keep it in the garage the 10 days a year it rains.

Given that just about everthing except the powertrain is made from unobtanium, I'm thinking one of these becomes the parts car.

          1. Rockford_Brodie Avatar

Unobtanium? So Avatar was about a bunch of guys searching for British sports car replacement parts and scoring with blue chicks? I might just have to go see this film after all.

There is only one option, LeMons. The $500 limit might be an issue.

Everything is better in pairs. Except Jensens. Isn't that how the saying goes? Fuck, now I got the Double-Mint Gum song stuck in my head.

There are time that I pray for a smallish warehouse space, a lift and some welding gear, and a 6-digit nestegg. This is one of those times.

Totally unnecessary in this case. All you need is a driveway, jack stands and about $10k to be cruising in muscular AngloAmerican style.

      Amen to that.

Now those would be a true PCH. Still a dream car for me, even if they don't have the 440.
