Hooniverse Weekend Edition – Where Tradition Meets Tech

I received this tip from Tim about a really cool website, ScooterMcRad’s Whatchaworks. This is one of the coolest sites I have seen in a long time, and I thought I would highlight one of his features he does every Friday called Friday Cutaways… Tim described this as cutaway porn, but that is a really disturbing term.

Here are some of the images Scooter linked onto his blog, and here is the link to view all of the drawings. Check them out and leave a few comments over there while you’re at it.

Why can't they make real car bodies transparent or translucent?

I'm kind of glad that they don't. Mostly because I don't want to see what people do while they are driving! 🙂

Can you imagine the Windex and paper towel bill? Yikes!

Well if they did, you'd be treated to a nightmare of door beams, wiring, airbags, power window assemblies, various plastic thingamabobs and connectors, and so on and so on.
Probably better that we can't see what's inside the doors and fenders!

It could make disassembly and reassembly of your car that much easier!

Are you kidding? That would be all kinds of awesome! (Sort of like David Macaulay's book "Underground") But I agree with citroen67 above – I have no interest in seeing what other people do when they should just be driving…

A couple of years ago there was a body-less Viper for sale on eBay.
