Hooniverse Fastback Friday: The Italian Stallion Edition

Ironically enough, last evening while having a good discussion with my blue friend, Skye, I thought I would do a mystery car post for Fastback Friday. As this olelongrooffan tries not to do any posts while visiting with Skye, I’ll screw something up and get in a whole bunch of trouble with the Hooniverse Overlords–I’m bad enough on the podcast–so I decided to wait until I returned home this evening to post it. Alas, Mr. Emslie was in first place on the Friday Mystery Car post. But at least I made the podium.
However, here is my offering for Fastback Friday. Hope you like the subject car.

Every fall for the past 9 years, Winter Park hosts its annual Concours D’Elegance and Park Avenue downtown is filled with some drop dead gorgeous automotive finery. I first went in ’05, again in ’08 and every year since. Due to a laptop that went out of control and crashed a few years ago, I lost the images of the ’05 show but have them of the more recent ones.
It was October, 2008 and the featured marque at the Concours was Ferrari. Ferrari of Orlando had a big booth and the F1 race was being televised that Sunday. Schumaker took the victory in a Ferrari and that place went wild.
At that time I was out wandering about and spotted this rare beauty.

I found it to be absolutely gorgeous. It is, I believe a 1961, Ferrari California GT.

I love the little fins on the rear framing the sides of that fast back.

And as this was a partial view of Park Avenue that day, picking a favorite was not at all easy.

I am usually very comfortable in saying I don't like Ferraris. Touche Ferrari, well played.

Glad to know you and your pal Skyy can enjoy each others company. I am hanging out with an ol' boy named Hef E. Weizen enjoying some gorgeous Ferraris. Nice!

The California only came as a convertible (a spyder, if you want to get pedantic about it). What you have there is a Ferrari 250 GT TdF "3 louvre coupe", 1 of 18 built in 1957-58. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/3300/Ferrari-2
