While we out here in California have been suffering through a paucity of precipitation, it seems that the deep South and Eastern Seaboard have been getting more than their fair share. Elsewhere, people in Australia have been feeling like another shrimp on the barbie as it’s been one of the hottest summers on record down there. Driving in extreme weather, either hot or cold, demands preparation and special techniques to overcome the unique conditions. Sometimes it requires just staying home and stewing over being out of beer or perhaps delivering the baby on your own.

Of course we’re all Hoons and that means that we know how to do things. That includes making the choice to drive in weather that perhaps we ought not to. When that happens, it sometimes escalates into situations that either end in a great story at a party or bar, or alternatively, a tow truck and a look of chagrin. 

Has that ever happened to you? I know I for one can admit to having destroyed a pair of VW Golf hubcaps with snow chains – yes I know I should have taken them off, now – when returning from a ski trip to Big Bear in the Sn Bernardino mountains.
