Freddy Hernandez decided to embrace his love of one-time expensive used cars and take a deep dive into the world of YouTube at the same time. Better known as Tavarish, he kicked off his fresh channel by showing some of his projects (including an Aston Martin Vantage, busted Supra, and some big-body Benzes) after a move from the northern part of the east coast down to Florida.

That’s the right state to embrace Freddy’s brand of car crazy. And I do mean crazy, because his most recent finished project car was a seemingly impossible task; get a modified, fire-damaged 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder back to working order.

The craziest part of it all? He did it.

After more than 70 videos documenting his gargantuan Gallardo adventure, Tavarish can say he finished the project. The engine works. Its twin-turbo system sounds amazing and produces serious power. The manual gearbox slots neatly into its metal-gated homes. What was once the cheapest Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder in the country is now a running driving piece of joy sitting in Tavarish’s garage.

With all his hard work on this one, I’m nominating Tavarish’s 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder for HCOTY 2018. No, not because it’s a Lamborghini. Hell, that’s nearly enough for us to not include it. I’m casting my vote for this car because of the time, effort, sweat, blood, tears, and serious work that went into the car and the documentation of the journey as well.
