Found on eBay: The worst Land Rover ever made

glenfrome land rover

Reader P16911 has sent in plenty of tips over the years. Today, however, he’s sent in the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Okay, it’s not the absolute worst, but it pains me to think that a Land Rover gave its life for the “creation” currently for sale on eBay. It was produced by coachbuilders Glenfrome of England, and they started with a 1987 Landie and turned it into a “one of eight” custom vehicle called the Facet.

I’m using every facet of my imagination to try and find a parallel universe in which this vehicle is deemed a good idea.

It’s has a little over 14,000 miles on the odometer and a Buy-It-Now of $52,000. The Facet also manages to blend the style of a Lamborghini LM002 with that of a Suzuki Sidekick… in the worst way possible. I’m upset that a good Land Rover gave its life for this cause, and you will be too after you head to the auction page and see the rest of the photos.

Back in 2006 one of these sold at a US auction I recall, that example was built for the victory parade after Desert Storm for one middle eastern monarch.
Curious that the eBay ad doesnt state this explicitly. I recall reading in Sports Car Market that a few years ago this thing, or one like it, also claiming victory parade provenance, sold for like $18K. A bargain for the running gear itself, I reckon.

Makes me want to apologize to whomever styled the Pontiac Aztek. I was wrong, you could have done worse.

If that price was in yen it might be a fun time.

It needs to not be pink, and not have the horrible spare-wheel carrier.
    And not be $52k.
Aside from that, I rather like it. It beats the thousands of caned-to-shit "bobtailed" and lifted Range Rovers and Discoveries we see everwhere, covered in riveted-on chequerplate and "One Life, Live It" stickers.

What an ugly vehicle! It's located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, which will be much more pleasant when this thing leaves.

They probably passed a city ordinance forbidding customized pink Land Rovers just to get rid of it.

The perfect vehicle for a pig farmer, judging by the "plugholes" and the colour.

The color looks like "Evening Orchid", that was used by Chevy back in the mid '60s. One of the members in our Corvair club (NTCA), has a late 4-door hardtop painted that color. And it actually looks good.

Ford also had a similar color in the '80s and '90s. I regularly see it on a Grand Marquis I drive by semi-frequently.

I have a friend whose 1958 Chevrolet Sedan is that color, original paint. He's a big, angry looking dude. The entire effect is pretty dramatic.

What is set in a Post-apocalyptic Barbie playset…life-sized playset?

"The worst Land Rover ever made" is a bold statement, especially if you're talking to someone that's owned a Land Rover. We all have Stockholm Syndrome.

Let's be honest. If this thing was painted matte green or tan, we'd all be fawning over it.

C'mon, where's your sense of humor, Jeff?
I simply cannot hate anything so absurdly OTT. It's so wonky, it actually made me grin.
    Granted, I wouldn't give $1200 for it, but…

The seller also lists a Tesla Roadster for $66K. If they get their asking price, it will have only depreciated by $10 for every mile it has been driven. I hope the electricity was cheap.

I wondered when I'd see the Homer Simpson car in real life. Thanks for crossing that off my list.

Sorry..except for the color combo and that awful rear spare, this isn't bad. I've seen far worse…including most dull Land Rovers. I know I'm in the minority here but its not that bad.
