Ford releases Bronco prototype test video

2020 is shaping up to be a big year for new vehicles. Among the much-anticipated off-roaders is the upcoming Ford Bronco. Spy photos have been captured incessantly. But with a recent video, Ford is all-in on the teasers.

The short 42-second video gives us a brief look into the Bronco’s four-by-four chops. Ford is clearly not messing around here. Showcasing a number of terrains, the truck does appear to be seriously capable.

Most important here is what seems to be a wild amount of off-road versatility. Whereas Jeep’s mojo is focusing on rock-crawling and slower trail worthiness, Ford is taking a different approach. Starting things off we see the Bronco bombing through sand. It doesn’t look to be scared of speed on the trail. Next we see it climbing up a medium-size rock obstacle without issue. Obviously the line taken is perfect, but it doesn’t struggle even a little. The real focus of the video is speed: after this rock section, it’s all about Baja-like cruising.

Now, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the top-trim, fully kitted-out version. Expect equipment similar to what is available in the F-150 Raptor. Fox shocks, BFG KO2s and true 4WD running gear will all be standard on the Bronco Raptor, if that’s the name they go with. Lower trims will likely be more stripped down and street-friendly, but it’s shaping up to be a killer truck regardless. Bring on the Bronco.
