On February 16th, The Petersen Automotive Museum played host to a cruise-in in honor of Enzo Ferrari’s 115th birthday. The event was organized by the Ferrari Club of America, which brought out a nice group of the brands legendary creations as well as a few other special cars. It was held on the top floor of the museums parking structure. This allowed for a great view of the city, but also caused some headaches for those of us taking pictures. White walls with light colored pavement and bright sunlight are a nightmare. But, anyways, on to the cars.

One would normally be hard pressed to spot a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 a.k.a. the “Daytona” at any car show, yet at this event there were 7 present. There was also a row of 80’s and 90’s eight-cylinder Ferrari mdoels, which are still (relatively) cheap to purchase but not quite cheap to own. Towards the back of the structure sat some of the most beautiful Ferraris ever created; a 250 GT Series II Cabriolet, a gold Ferrari 330 GTC, and a pair of Ferrari 250 GT Lussos. Other very rare examples of the brand at hand included a 1 of 448 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pinninfarina, a 1 of 559 Ferrari 575 Superamerica, a 1 of 599 Ferrari 599 GTO, a F430 Scuderia, and a F430 Scuderia 16M. Rather disappointingly though there were no Ferrari Enzos present, nor where there any F50s, F40s or 288 GTOs.

But it wasn’t all about the Ferrari’s, as with all other cruise-ins at The Petersen, other vehicles of interest are welcome. There was a very interesting Jaguar XKE “Shagmobile” present as well as a beautiful Maserati 3500GT Vignale. On top of that, there was the menacing looking Lamborghini Aventador sitting between a Ferrari Daytona and a Fiat 500 Abarth. Not far away there was a McLaren MP4-12C and across the ways sat a classic Cadillac.

All in all it was a pretty good event, and I had a good bit of fun checking out the cars. The parking structure made for some great audio stimulation as the cars arrived and left the event. Plus, being atop the structured allowed for a great vantage point to photograph the cars as they departed. I mean how often are you able to get a top view of these exotic beauties?
