Fastback Friday: Burt's Car

IMG_2272 So, earlier this week in a post about a beautiful Fiat 500 this olelongrooffan stumbled upon, I, tongue in cheek, asked what that yellow thing was in the background? In the comments of that post, our esteemed mdharrell suggested it might be some sort of TVR wedge and the ever funny Batshitbox came up with that nearly ubiquitous answer,”Looks like a Lambo, dude.” Unfortunately, both were mistaken in their projections. However, my fellow Hoons can see just What I Saw Today merely by clicking the jump button below. But be forewarned, eye bleach is mandatory. IMG_2265 This olelongrooffan is guessing that after Burt Reynolds made millions from his series of movies about Coors beer featuring black Trans Ams, he was a pretty bankable star and, based on the later body style of this F-body, was pretty much able to write his own ticket as to what he was going to do and what he was going to drive while doing it. And this olelongrooffan also guesses that as BL Stryker, this PMY, no longer a fastback, vehicle was his choice of rides. Just look at this thing. I could have included this in my Monstrosity From The Hard Drive series from a whiles back. IMG_2266 The taillight grille on this thing reminds me of The Family Truckster we Hoons hold in great esteem. And that rear wing? Absolutely no further comment could do it justice. As an aside, when determining a title for this post, this olelongrooffan was reminded of a post I did many moons ago over on my personal blog entitled “Bert’s Car” about a car I bartered some work for with my 80+ year old neighbor up in The Birthplace of Speed. My fellow Hoons, if interested can read about it here. And the culmination to my ownership of that NUMMI produced car can be read about here. IMG_2268 But this Fastback Friday post is not about Bert’s car but about Burt’s PMY car. Check out the front end on this thing. Much like an out of proportion boob job, this just doesn’t get it done for this olelongrooffan. mdharrell, I wish it were some sort of TVR wedge. Now that might get this olelongrooffan a Featured Post round these here parts. IMG_2269 The outside mirrors on this looked right out of a J.C. Whitney catalogue (anyone remember those?) and there were more air vents on this thing than in the A/C systems in one of the multi million dollar homes this olelongrooffan spends my days walking through looking for items needing correction. IMG_2270 Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about right there. IMG_2271 And up front there were even a few more added in just for fun. This olelongrooffan did notice this ride had a temp Sunshine State tag in the rear window indicating someone had recently purchased this ride. And at what cost, this olelongrooffan has no idear. IMG_2273 But I will say this about that, IMG_2274 It does possess T-Tops, IMG_2275 and Burt Reynold’s signature, ala Carroll Shelby, on the dashboard so maybe there is some value to this afterall. However, to this olelongrooffan, it is priceless. Yeah, I wouldn’t pay any price for it. Images Copyright Hooniverse/2014 longrooffan
