The World’s Worst Car Is For Sale On Craigslist

Welcome to Craigslist Crapshoot, our weekly search for the most bizarre, awesome, and/or terrible vehicles that the online classifieds has to offer.

It’s got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks… You know, it’s generally considered, because they tend to be driven fast and hard, that cop cars and bikes are in some ways better than the versions those of us on the other side of the aviators and mustache. That doesn’t mean we can’t buy into the dream and we’ll see just how dreamy a cop ride can be in just a sec. First off, I have a big task for you.

Did you see the Aziz Ansari episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee? That was the one in which Seinfeld had to drive Aziz’s tour bus to the coffee shop, and it was a white knuckled of a ride, even from the comfort of one’s computer screen. Jerry had to be trained to drive such a massive rig, and that training came in handy at the end of the spot where he was given the opportunity to drive a Kenworth W900. I figure that watching that episode should be enough to prepare any of us for hitting the highway in a big rig so this week let’s find our rides. That’s right, this week, we want 18-wheeler tractors, the more luxurious the better. After all, if Jerry can do it…

As always, we want your finds to go down in infamy and not in the site’s spam filter. Follow any of the following advice and you’re crap will be known far and wide.

  1. Easiest way to not get caught in the spam filters is to create an IntenseDebate account. If you do so and your posts aren’t appearing, let us know at tips@hooniverse.info and we can put you on the whitelist
  2. If you don’t want an IDC account, you can create a wordpress.com account and do the same thing.
  3. If you’re the Ted Kaczynski type and don’t want any kind of account, then try to place only a single link in a comment and just drop any outgoing link in via its raw URL and not as a text link.

If you’ve got that, let’s what was last week’s best cop out.

I don’t know if an old cop car is the best way to go. I mean, yeah, sure they’ve got heavy duty this and higher-output that, but usually they’re pretty much wrung out after years on the force. Cars and bikes don’t usually meet their end with just days to go before retirement, as do so many partner cops in the movies, they just go on into the hands of civilians, who then discover just how hard a hard-ass cop can be on his or her ride. That’s why, if you wanted to go police car, you’ll probably want to find one that has had some of the wear and tear worn and torn off of it. That’s just the case with this week’s winnah, a 1995 Chevy Caprice 9C1 that is said to be the LAST one decommissioned by the LAPD. It was discovered by our good friend, Tomsk, and has gone from B&W to plain clothes grey since entering civilian life. I also like it because it’s not a Crown Vic. You just don’t see too many of the whale-shaped Caprices around anymore. Way to go, Tomsk! 1995 Police Chevy Caprice Lt1 9C1
