Aural Pleasure: Conquer the Wind EP

Ever feel like there’s just not enough ’80s Pontiacness in your daily life? Fear not, there’s a perfect solution that enables you to get your Pontiac kicks in audio form whenever you crave them.

The aficionado of all things ’80s and awesome, TNUC, created an epic EP out of old Pontiac commercials. Make the jump to hear the soundbites in their full-on leathery neon power glory.

To quote:

“When it comes to making advertisements and commercials, nobody does it like Pontiac. Nobody can package a shot of clean adrenaline to your heart in 30 seconds like the promotional powerhouses at this company. In an attempt to harness and match the power and aggressiveness that these vehicles held, the marketing hotshots at Pontiac crafted commercials that played like a triple-threat music video, action movie and sci-fi thriller all in one. They’ve been posted on here numerous times and can be found all over YouTube.

As a tribute to Pontiac, who by the way have been defunct since October 31, 2010 (RIP), we stripped the audio from the best of the best of Pontiac commercials and packaged them in an EP for you to download and cherish. No apologies for the bad sound quality. Consider it a blessing that someone excavated these commercials for us to enjoy.”

Yes, the soundbites have not been altered in any way and there’s no new music to back them up – they’re just plain audio from commercials picked from YouTube. But the vintage unalteredness just makes them so right. While at work, take a minute to go through all of them with your headphones on and eyes closed (not recommended if you’re a truck driver or otherwise aren’t even allowed to blink when at work). Can’t you just visualize the visuals in your head?
