Aircooled V8 Eater

The owner of this car is, in my eyes, somewhat of an aircooled VW idiot savant. He knows everything there is to know. He eats, sleeps and breathes deep sumps and drop spindles. He also has a little knack for building them from the ground up and has been doing it for people for years. Mike finally decided it was his turn to build something for himself. This is his dream machine.  It’s not every day we get the pleasure of seeing an old VW hooning the snot out of a quarter mile.  This car not only pulls high 12’s, she likes to drive to the track on cheater slick wrapped Porsche Fuchs and environmentally friendly E85, gobble a few V8’s for lunch and stop off for an ice cream cone on the way home. She started out life as  2/3 of a 1967 deluxe bug from California. A clean front clip was installed to replace the damaged one that had been removed before Mike got the car. He also installed a fiberglass hood and deck lid, and spiffy 1970’s inspired fiberglass flare fenders all the way around. Mike dropped the body on an IRS pan and fed her a 2276cc motor.  Magnificent orange paint was applied, her interior was stripped save for some awesome vintage seats, beer keg oil breather, old school VDO gauges and of course seat belts were a must have. Mike has since done a motor swap and the car now sports a 2387cc with a compression ratio of 13:1. The odometer’s only clocked a few miles since, but I anticipate cheering Mike on at Beaver Springs Dragway this summer to the tune of much lower times.  This man knows how to build (and drive) one hoontastic vehicle.
