In its four days, the Barrett-Jackson Northeast sold 630 vehicles worth approximately $23.5 million. In addition to cars, the 72,000 people who attended the auction also bought 685 pieces of automotive memorabilia totaling $819,000. That’s a pretty good weekend.
The auction occurred at the Mohegan Sun casino which is located in eastern Connecticut, about half way between Boston and New York City. That is a rather perfect location as it brought in people from all of New England, New York City metropolitan area, and probably as far as Philadelphia. All of those are areas with people who have money to spend, which begs the question as to why this is only the second such auction in this area.
Barrett-Jackson people confirmed what I noticed last week – the majority of the vehicles were American muscle cars but that majority has significantly shrunk. There were plenty of European cars as well as many 4x4s of all ages. There were surprisingly many Japanese cars, too, such as the two Nissan GTRs and numerous vintage Land Cruisers. The most shocking amount, both in terms of number of cars as well as their selling prices, were from the so-called Malaise Era. Along with those cars, Barrett-Jackson confirmed that they noticed a trend with many younger buyers and sellers.

$22,000 – that’s a lot more than what I expected it to sell for. 
$15,400 for this no-so-special E30 325i. There was also an E36 M3 sedan with an automatic transmission that sold for $25,300. 
The insane Jeep CJ era is upon us. $22,550 for this rather nice CJ-5. 
$18,700 for this modified badboy. 
There were many Beetles. This one sold for $25,300. This means that if you have anything with an air-cooled VW engine you’re a baller. 
Stock-ish and legally imported, yours for $29,700, which seems somewhat reasonable. 
This caricature sold for $14,800. I don’t even…
For $7150, this was a buy all day long. 
$34,100 for this widow-maker.
Just when you think the Jeep CJ market is nutty, in comes the FJ for $47,300.
I was expecting this original NAS D110 to fetch $150k. It didn’t. $114,400.
This unique Austin Mini fetched $7150. Not bad.
It look great but it was re-creation. So it only got $24,750.
The 928s are about to start going up in value because all other Porsche already have. $31,900 for this gorgeous 928 S. 
This disaster sold for $6600. Swap the wheels with some factory units, sand off the tacky paint, put it on eBay, and profit. 
If a CJ or an FJ won’t do it for you, how about this $48,400 Bronco?
At $12,100, this was too nice to pass up.
$18,700 for this Grand Nat in grand condition. At that price, it can only go up.
$58,300 for what I think is one of the best looking Ferraris ever. 
Lot #2 sold for $8800. Solid value. 
$11,000. Not bad, it was in excellent condition. 
$33,000 for this Lotus Esprit V8 – that’s a gamble I wouldn’t have taken.

This low mileage Jag went for $13,700. 
This was another bargain that’s sure to go up in value just based on its history – $25,300.
Aside from being powered by an air-cooled VW, there wasn’t anything special about this $17,600 vehicle.
This is a true military vet. $19,800.
Just your basic common GMC pickup for $11,000. 
This is rare targa-top XJSC. Even with V12 power it sold for only $6600.
This perfection went for $21,450.
$29,700. Chance of you ever owning a first generation Bronco are rather small.

My first car was an ’84 CJ-7. I bought in 1994 for $2400. This one sold for $22,000!!
Ah yea, Polski Fiat 126p. The paint job was not great but it seemed original and period correct. It sold for $5500 which means I should start importing them ASAP!

But there was only one Fiat Jolly. It was beautiful and it fetched a beautiful $42,900.
