Hooniverse Fastback Friday – Two 1963 Fiberglass Wonders; A Corvette and an Avanti

Here is another Hooniverse Fastback Friday, and today I thought it would be ideal to compare two very exciting Sports Cars, marketed by two very different companies for 1963. The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette was designed by Larry Shinoda under the direction of Billy Mitchell over at GM, and is one of the most breathtaking designs ever to come out of the General. The 1963 Studebaker Avanti design came about under the direction of Raymond Lowey, and is equally breathtaking, for different reasons. One was from the prominent car maker of the decade, while one was a quick “Hail Mary” desperation move in order to buy more time. Which one of these beauties would you like to call your own.

Hooniverse Panther Edition Weekend – The Panther Wagons; A Ford LTD, and a Mercury Colony Park

Welcome to the Sunday Edition of Hooniverse Panther Weekend, and I am going to start things off with highlighting the wagon versions that were available on the platform, the Ford LTD, and the Mercury Marquis. The top end of these wagons went by the moniker of the Ford Country Squire, and the Mercury Colony Park. I could only find one Colony Park, and I never found a Country Squire Panther that was for sale, but I did find an LTD. Let’s take a look at these Panther Wagons…

Hooniverse Fastback Friday – Are 1969 Dodge Charger Daytonas Worth the Money?

Welcome to Hooniverse Fastback Friday, and I have wanted to post this question for some time. I know the original Charger Daytona is a historic car, and it marked the absolute peak of the Muscle Car Era here in the US, but are they really worth the money they seem to be getting on the market? With prices that was once reserved for recognized classics like Duesenberg SJs, Auburn Boat Tail Speedsters, and the Cord 812, the Dodge Daytonas is destined to become museum pieces which is really no place for a certified Muscle Car.

Hooniverse Truck Thursday – Attention Race Fans: Your new tow vehicle awaits…

Welcome to Hooniverse Truck Thursday. Hey, it looks like my time slot has been hijacked, so this posting is appearing a little later than usual, but it is well worth the wait. Many of us are die hard auto enthusiasts and happen to take part in many motoring events. Be it dirt bikes, slalom events, LeMons, boating, or snowmobiling, we all like our machines. Inevitably, we also need a dependable rig to tow our toys, heaps, junk to these events, and here is a perfect and affordable truck to do so.

Hooniverse Truck Thursday – Two Corvair Greenbriar Vans… So which one would you choose?

Welcome to Hooniverse Truck Thursday. Last week we highlighted a Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside Forward Control Pickup Truck (try and say that three times fast!), so this week, I thought it was time to highlight the passenger van with a Corvair heart, the Greenbriar. I found two Greenbriars that were recently “restored” on Auto Trader Classics; One fairly stock looking. The Other? Well, not so much….

Hooniverse Fastback Friday – How about a Pinto and a Bobcat?

Welcome to another edition of Hooniverse Fastback Fridays. There is nothing fast about the two cars in this posting, but they are two neat little cars that are probably worth nothing close to their asking prices, but does that make them bad? Take a look, and apart from the price, are they even remotely lustworthy?

Hooniverse Fastback Friday: A 1949 Pontiac Streamliner with a Surprise

Welcome to Hooniverse Fastback Fridays, where I surf Craigslist, Auto Trader, and Ebay in search for something interesting, or at least controversial, and bring it to your attention. Last week, the entry selected for the inaugural posting of this feature was a bit of a stretch, and most of the readership really didn’t care for it. This week, I bring you a proper fastback in the form of a 1949 2-door Pontiac Streamliner with a heart transplant.

Hooniverse Fastback Friday: A 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass with only 1,076 Miles

The Hooniverse readership are among the best and the brightest on the web. For example, while introducing a couple of new features including Wagon Wednesdays, and Truck Thursdays, a suggestion was made to add a couple of other features for the week including “Motorboat Mondays”, and “Fastback Fridays”. So, in response to that, here is the inaugural Hooniverse Fastback Friday, with a feature on this unbelievable Oldsmobile Cutlass.
