CAS 2012: Final Thoughts

Media days at this year’s Chicago International Auto Show has come to a graceful close. Apart from the delicious free pizza and cupcakes, thousands of pictures I took, and many miles of walking I did the past 48 hours, the two best parts of this show were the great media friends I got to see again, and the boatload of sweet cars sitting under the shining lights.

CAS 2012: Day 2 Afternoon Recap

One of the first things I did to start off the second media day, was climb up inside of a giant Army Styker vehicle and hop up on the turret. I just had too. Pictures coming soon to Hooniverse. I walked past the papa bear on wheels (Nissan Quest), towards Honda to check out the absolutely gorgeous Accord Coupe concept.

CAS 2012: Afternoon Rundown

After the morning rush (and nearly getting trampled during Ford’s press conference about the new GT500 convertible), the rest of the day was filled with cupcakes, more press conferences, and some awesome new cars. Nissan held their press conference at 1:30pm, revealing a variant of their new Nissan NV 200 smaller commercial van. Surrounded by hundreds of photographers, reporters, and other media representatives were some of Nissan’s heavy-duty NV cargo and passenger vans. One that stood out looked like a giant grey Converse Chuck Taylor high top shoe.

CAS 2012: (Wagon Wednesday!) Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG

Folks, this is the new E63 AMG wagon a.k.a, the mother of all station wagons. Wait a minute, what about the Cadillac CTS-V wagon? You just can’t ignore the American rocket ship now. Don’t get me wrong, I like anything with a Corvette engine under its hood, especially old Jaguars and Miatas, but this….this is a sleeper. First, how can you not love that dull silver paint job and massive five-spoke wheels?  That’s just from the side and rear.

CAS 2012: The Morning Update

Goooood morning Chicago, the first couple hours of today’s media preview have been filled with surprises and excitements. After a morning breakfast held by the Midwest Automotive Media Association and Volvo, reporters and media flocked to GMC for the unveiling of the new Acadia….and Acadia Denali. When the cover came off, the front end was what stuck out the most, with new headlights, a flater bigger chrome grille, and the absence of that ridiculous front lip seen on the outgoing Acadia Denali. I think the 2013 Acadia, and Acadia Denali look a bit more well, manly and not so crossover-ish.
