A few days ago on the ever-awesome Bring A Trailer, they covered the sale of a Ferrari 250GTE (that’s a relatively unloved 2+2 iteration of the 250 model) for a “mere” $38,000. The catch? Gone is the 3.0L v12 and manual transmission, replaced by an LT-1 and 700R4 slushbox. The year was 1986 and a plucky young Matthew Broderick decided it was time for his high school student character to take a day off. Along with his girlfriend and depressing best bud, Ferris Bueller took the city of Chicago by storm. His chariot of choice that day? A gleaming red 1961 Ferrari 250 GT [...] Okay, put your shirt back on. And do up your damn pants. You're scaring the dog. The Edmonton Motor Show was this weekend. While it is difficult to truly express how thrilling it was to walk through a giant auditorium that seemed to be little more than a used car lot filled with 5,000 people, [...] On a quiet side street in Van Nuys, California there sits a relatively unassuming house. It seems it’s getting sloppy seconds.
When will people learn? Changing the dimensions of a piece of art takes it from beauty to beast! Perhaps “replica” is a bit of a strong word. Imitation? That’s even a bit generous. And there it is. As you can see, had this entire shot been used, there would have been little mystery to today’s mystery car. |
