No points for guessing who's who
Yeah, so…sorry to leave so many of you hanging when it comes to LeMons coverage. Turns out, there’s not really time to drive, wrench like crazy and blog an event. No doubt you’ve been keeping up with Judge Martin’s coverage, so hopefully you haven’t been completely in the dark. We’ve got plenty of pictures and some in-car footage that we’ll treat you to this week. Hit the jump for a quick summary and some shots of the Uberbird…
Saturday went relatively smoothly for Der Uberbird, with only a leaking tranny cooler hose and a self-disassembling exhaust to deal with. Sunday started well, but a series of mechanical woes, a not-so-minor contact event and a few somewhat mysterious black flags slowed our roll considerably. We peaked in the low-60s, place-wise, but finished something like 87th by the time the shards of guibo dust settled.
Summaries from everything else: The Pandamonium Racing e30 won overall (after donating the #43 to us), The Bug (Actual Name: Team Purple LeMons Racing, ‘69 Beetle) got Index of Effluency, at least 3 cars went wheels-up, and Chief Perpetrator Jay Lamm claimed the V12 Mercedes for his own.
We’re insanely tired and it’s quittin’ time. More ex-post-facto coverage as the week goes on and we get to sorting all these pictures.
Needs more mustache (good job, you chuckleheads)
Good job guys! I was rooting for you.
Dude on the left, (I'm so freakin bad with names) you are frigging hilarious! Thanks for cheering us up after the flight of the Bumblebee.
That is Aaron Gold – he is the "car guy" for Cars.About.com
well theres the one guy who said he knows hooniverse, hello again
Good job! Just to finish is an honor. Maybe "honor" isn't the right word, but you know what I mean.
No… it is an honor.
Great job. Congrats on running, and finishing.
Congrats on the finish!
Good job on finishing!
Thanks! hopefully we see you there again soon… your car is friggin' fast…
Mysterious black flags?
Honestly, you must have us confused with the other BMW Daytona/Superbird.
/The Academy has nominated you in the category of "Best Wing". Well done, and congratulations.
We had two, where we pulled in for black flags … and they said they didnt have anything on us.
Later, I pulled in for a black flag for passing under a yellow – coming over a crest, the TR7 passed ME under yellow then waved my back in front of him… and I got the flag. Oh well…
I was just happy the car finished – that was a great feeling pulling in under the checkered flag…
The flagman works NASCAR races for a living. Mysterious black flags and mysterious debris on the backstretch are part of the training.
Alright! after all my critique of your giant wing I'm glad to see it make it all the way through to the finish. Well done guys, well done.
Man, that must have been one helluva fun weekend. Good job on finishing, and the nose didn't even get smooshed.
The team next to us (Chia Bulls) said they were shocked that we didn't bang up the nose at all… The only real damage to it was caused by the tow straps from the rescue truck (we got towed in twice!)
Couldn't've said it better. Good car, good show, good job keeping the nose pointy.
You guys rock.
Awesome job guys! No shame in that effort: at least you got a car and team together and held up until the end…. plenty of others didn't do as well.
Besides, we'll just say you actually helped Pandemonium "win" because they gave you their number. Which was only the right thing to do, of course.
Yeah, I walked down and gave them a six-pack and a Hooniverse bumper sticker… They said thanks and asked what the hell Hooniverse is… so the mission for the next race? (besides winning the damn thing) To educate the masses with more stickers and possibly a t-shirt both if the powers that be allow it…
Great work, you guys. I saw der Uberbird come in on the hook a couple of times, but you were always able to get the old girl back on track. The car looked great and the mighty M30 engine made epic noises. I'll see you at Sears Point!
Oh, and thanks for the stickers. I'll see if I'm allowed to put them on the "Big EASY" 914.
did damnElantra™ do some damnDriving™???
He did some DamnFine Flag scouting/Radio work… and some damnrepair help
Congratulations gang…! Absolutely Fabulous…!
Congratulations, chaps! Are you sticking with this theme for the next race?
It doesn't matter if you win or loose, it only matters that you don't die a fiery death (of course, finishing is a bonus).
Great job Hoonigans!
I'm jealous.
Good job, and congratulations!
Can i take a one small picture from your blog?
