Wagon Wednesday: Longroofs From The Street Rod Nationals in Florida

So, a few weeks ago this olelongrooffan attended the Street Rod Nationals Show up in the City of Palms and, as expected, there were literally tons of cool *ss cars and trucks there. Naturally, this olelongrooffan was most interested in the longroofs in attendance at this show. I thought I would take this opportunity this Wagon Wednesday here in the Hooniverse to share them with my fellow Hoons. However, making the just is necessary to see more than this sweet old Sedan Delivery longroof hot rod.

A Brief Trip To The Southwest Florida Street Rod Nationals With This olelongrooffan: Part 1

Much like our favorite Weekend Edition Editor, UDMan’s life these days, this olelongrooffan recently embarked on a new job situation and, as a result, I was unable to attend the Rolex24 at Daytona International Speedway for the first time in a dang long time. I first attended the 24 in 1989 just a few short months after this olelongrooffan relocated to the Sunshine State from my home in the ShowMe State. I remember this as I have, well actually that traveling museum piece of art is currently in the possession of thejeepjunkie, a poster of the Miller High Life winning Porsche 962. And yes, it is framed. When I asked thejeepjunkie if he would like to have it in his possession, there was not a moment of hesitation before he responded in the affirmative. “That is one of the coolest things I think you own.” It was a pleasure to transfer the possession of it to my little, but bigger, brother and the fact he thought it was that cool provides this olelongrooffan yet another way to Celebrate Life.

So I can hear my fellow Hoons wondering what this olelongrooffan did instead of heading up to my easily gained access racetrack that last weekend in January? Well, all ya’all will need to make the jump to see what I was able to attend that Saturday prior to returning to my new old hometown to catch most of the Rolex24 on about fifteen different Fox networks.

Long Shots: A Trip Through de Ville

LongRoofian January 31, 2014 All Things Hoon

So way back last year, this olelongrooffan posted about those time machines I had spotted up in the town with the beautiful springs. In that post I included the above image with the note disclaimer, “What is that in the next lot over?” Well, my fellow Hoons will need to make the jump to see it and a couple more vintage machines.

Long Shots: What Do Water Heaters, Lawn Mowers and Classic Mustangs Have In Common?

So this olelongrooffan is comfortably settled into my new job and my old, new hometown here in Naples, Florida, otherwise known to me as FantasyLand (and all is well, thanks for asking). As the shoes on my longerroof are nearly seven years old, that’s right seven years old, and are weather cracked, nearly bald, and each of them possesses a screw gathered from some construction jobsite or another, I realized it was time to replace those old Michelins. So after shopping around a bit, I headed out to a locally owned tire supplier to switch up those French derived shoes to a set of Falkens.

While all this was going on, this olelongrooffan was wandering around and, in my typical manner, stumbled upon something I just had to share with my fellow Hoons. Feel free to make the jump to see what this “dead weight” longrooffan found to share.

The Snowed-In Weekend Antithesis: Beach Blast 19, The Car Show

There really isn’t a Last Call on weekends, as such, this olelongrooffan thought I might pop this in just for our Finnish friends.

Several weeks ago Many months ago back when this olelongrooffand drove up and down the highways and byways of this Sunshine State staying off the Eisenhower Highway System, I cruised up US 1 to Cocoa Beach and attended the 19th Annual Beach Blast Car Show. The first time I attended this show it was quite by accident. This year, I made a specific trip up to check out this cool ass beachside show.

The Roar Before The 24: A 2014 Stroll Around The Garages With This olelongrooffan

So, earlier this olelongrooffan mentioned I had attended the Roar Before the 24 up at the Daytona International Speedway. It was a blast to meet a fellow Hoon who also happens to be an engineer on the DeltaWing race team and to see some pretty cool stuff in the lot while there. I thought my fellow Hoons might enjoy a brief stroll through the garage area with this olelongrooffan.

In The Lot At The Roar Before The 24

So this past weekend this olelongrooffan was up in the World Center of Racing to attend the Roar Before The 24. This is the practice session for the newly formed TUDOR race car series prior to the Rolex 24 Hour of Daytona. And, as has been mentioned many times by many of my fellow Hoons, at events such as this, sometimes the coolest cars are in the lot. This day was no exception. Go ahead and make the jump to see what I spotted that day.

No-Snow Weekend Edition: Last Call: It Was A Touch Warm Here In The World Center Of Racing

This past weekend and the next couple days are forecasted to provide a significant amount of snowfall accumulation here in the United States, especially in the upper midwest and northeast. Luckily, snow was the last thing on the mind of these TUDOR racing fans here in the World Center of Racing.

Stay warm and safe my fellow Hoons.

The TUDOR Series DeltaWing Or How This olelongrooffan Met Yet Another Fellow Hoon

IMG_1885 enlarged

So this past weekend, the practice session for the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona was going on. It’s known as the Roar Before the 24 and this olelongrooffan has attended many of them. But the fact this olelongrooffan now resides in my new old hometown of Naples, Florida and due to a fun new job, I knew an extended weekend to enjoy the actual race, unfortunately for the first time in a long time, would not be in the cards. As a result, my attendance at this practice session, now a five hour drive away as opposed to within earshot, was mandatory. And a fellow Hoon made this all possible. And it was a part of my Hoonimas present to boot. Make the jump to see a bit more about this race car and how this olelongrooffan met a fellow Hoon.

Long Shots: A Few DeLoreans For My Fellow Hoons?

LongRoofian December 16, 2013 All Things Hoon

So, this olelongrooffan is comfortably settled into my new gig here in the FantasyLand that is Naples, Florida. So much so that I have had the opportunity to get out and see some of the Hooniverse friendly sites round these here parts. Now my fellow Hoons may recollect this olelongrooffan found a cool *ssed GMC Motorhome facility in relatively obscure Okeechobee, Florida and the Hooniverse Overlords allowed me to share that experience with all ya’all. At that time I mentioned it was the largest assembly of GMC motorhomes I had ever seen. Well my fellow Hoons a week or so ago, I had a similar experience but this time it was with one of our favorite Gullwing Motorcars, the DeLorean DMC. Click on through to see a few more of them.
