Fastback Friday: Burt’s Car

So, earlier this week in a post about a beautiful Fiat 500 this olelongrooffan stumbled upon, I, tongue in cheek, asked what that yellow thing was in the background? In the comments of that post, our esteemed mdharrell suggested it might be some sort of TVR wedge and the ever funny Batshitbox came up with that nearly ubiquitous answer,”Looks like a Lambo, dude.” Unfortunately, both were mistaken in their projections. However, my fellow Hoons can see just What I Saw Today merely by clicking the jump button below. But be forewarned, eye bleach is mandatory.

Truck Thursday: The Southern Comfort Edition

So, this olelongrooffan doesn’t have a whole lot of room to talk about this truck as I am sporting around in a rebadged S-10 Blazer Extreme these days. In truth, my longerroof is merely a regular 2001 Blazer with a few questionablely styled body parts tacked on, some quasi fancy wheels, and a well traveled Opel badge stuck on its nose. It certainly possesses nothing special in the paint department, that is unless you ask one of my homeowners who hails from the state with that famous Mint Julep consuming crowd and whose S550 Mercedes bears the Sunshine State license plate stating “KY B4 FL”. Yeah he calls the color of my longerroof “Kentucky Blue.” And of course, that reminds me of a horse I grew up with whose name is “Blue Damn You.” But that is another Hoonitale, lived, but yet to be written.

So, “what,” I can hear my fellow Hoons asking, “does this have to do with this Truck Thursday edition?” As expected, clicking on through the jump would be a required effort on your part to get the answer to that question.

Long Shots: An Original Appearing Cinquecento

So this olelongrooffan is still working on assimilating myself to my newish surrounds, yeah, I know, it’s been 9 months, come on old man get with it. While many of my fellow Hooniverse contributors write for a living around these here intertubes, I am just an average Joe just trying to eke out a living here in the sunny (and wet) southwestern part of the Sunshine State. In this olelongrooffan’s defense, I have recently purchased a brand spanking new hp laptop and Windows 11 sucks. With this version, my pictures library doesn’t perform anything like any previous version and the space bar on the cheapest laptop WallyWorld sells only works when myleft thumb hits it. Now I am sure all of this can be contributed to OE but it just sucks learning new systems when the old ones worked justfineforme. Oh yeah, Get Off My Lawn.

However, when I spotted this original looking Fiat 500, this olelongrooffan knew that I had to suck it up, stop, smell the exhaust fumes and share a few images of it with my fellow Hoons. If any of all ya’all are interested in seeing What I Saw Today, feel free to jump on through.

Weekend Edition: Hoonitales: The 1995 Indianapolis 500

So this olelongrooffan has been somewhat Hoonisilent this past month or so. Ever since relocating here to FantasyLand and hanging out in the toney community where I earn a buck or two, my motivation for posting all things Hoon has been somewhat lacking. Yeah, I know, I’m a Slacker but how many times can this olelongrooffan do a post about a ubiquitous Maserati? However, as a means of attempting to motivate this olelongrooffan into sharing some stuff with my fellow Hoons, I backtracked and checked out some of my previous posts and, as a result, the comments on those posts. It was on one of them about some of the forgotten images I had gathered and my, presumed, switch from a HP product to that fruit so forbidden to Adam and Eve and it was in the comment section of that post that fellow Hoon Hycospeed left the following:

Olelongroof, I could give two shits what computer, software, smoke signal generator, whatever, that you use, just as long as you keep sharing your adventures and stories with us! I am with you, certain cars, certain car sights, certain car smells, can instantly bring back memories of people now gone, and to me that is one of the awesome things about old cars and old stuff, the ability for it to connect you to a person, a memory, and help keep them alive in your heart. Thanks Hycospeed.

Well Hoons, it was that comment which provides the motivation for this olelongrooffan to share with all ya’all a brief tale about the 1995 Indianapolis 500 and thejeepjunkie and this olelongrooffan’s attendance at it.

Appropriately enough this Indy 500 Sunday nearly 20 years later.

The Revs Institute Reopens The Collier Automotive Museum For We Hoon’s Enjoyment

So the burg this olelongrooffan calls home is located in the extreme southwestern part of the Sunshine State. It is in Collier County which was named after Barron Gift Collier. He was a pretty rich dude back in the day and owned over a million acres of land here in southwest Florida. Now, I can hear my fellow Hoons asking, “Why is this relevant here in the Hooniverse, longroof?” Well fellow Hoons, it’s like this.

V.I.S.I.T.: 1953 C5 Corvette Commorative Edition

So today, this olelongrooffan was chatting it up with thebossman and spotted something I just knew was Hooniworthy pass around the round about out in front of one of the subdivisions we are building. It was a 2003 Commemorative Edition Corvette and I told Charles what it was and that I would be right back, see ya. So I jumped in my longerroof and got out on the golf course lined perimeter road and followed that C5 up to the tennis club next to the clubhouse of the toney community in which I work.

Once again this olelongrooffan can hear my fellow Hoons screaming, “A C5 Corvette? WTF ORLF?” A jump might answer that question.

Bonus Hooniverse Asks: What is This Little Bull Anyway?

As every one of my fellow Hoons knows, there are a lot of animals that are portrayed as logos for nearly every automobile company out there. Mustangs, Impalas, Bulls, Pintos, Bulldogs, Rams, and, oh yeah, Cougars. I captured this Mustang just a couple weeks ago and, at the time, I had no idea for what I would use this image.

A whiles back this olelongrooffan shared with my fellow Hoons how I had gotten a new gig. Well, as a part of that gig, I work out of one of the model homes we have in that there subdivision here in FantasyLand. And trust me, fellow Hoons, my bosses provide this olelongrooffan a pretty sweet work space.

But what does my new cube have to do with animal logos in the automotive world? Well, my fellow Hoons will need to make the jump to solve that mystery.

Weekend Edition: On The Road With This olelongrooffan: Live

Saturday, 5:45 EST

On Friday, this olelongrooffan cut out of work a tad early to hot foot it over to Burt Reynolds’ hometown to help judge the Treasure Coast Builder’s Association’s annual Parade of Homes. I have been doing it for many years and, as always, this year was a treat as well. Last night we all were treated to Aps and Tales at one cool restaurant and enjoyed some live jazz at another while feasting on some excellent seafood dinners. Today, up early and a long day of checking out some seriously nice model homes.  Afterwards, this olelongrooffan jumped in my longerroof and headed down Florida’s highway 9 for the three hour trip home. In Delray Beach, nature was calling so I exited and headed to the local Hess station to take care of business.

By now, I am sure my fellow Hoons are wondering what this has to do with Antii’s Our Cars post?

Truck Thursday: Because UNIMOG

So this past weekend, this olelongrooffan hooked up with my Cobra, Aurora, Street Rod and Mustang owning friend TheKenMan and we spent the greater part of the day seeing as much as could be seen around here in FantasyLand. As will be, or has been, related here in the Hooniverse, we experienced a bunch of cool events and at one of them was this fantastic Unimog this olelongrooffan just had to share with my fellow Hoons.

Long Shots: An Original Honda Civic Sedan

LongRoofian March 24, 2014 All Things Hoon

So this olelongrooffan has previously related how I am spending most of my day, these days, cruising the streets of a high end community here in FantasyLand whoring myself and my staff out doing whatever our homeowners need to have done to make their homes complete. As such, the time available for V.I.S.I.T. or Long Shots sightings are relatively limited. Plus, there are so many sights to be seen round here (RHD E30 Touring, an 80’s era M6 and a pristine ’87 Commanche in one day) it is difficult to capture images of all of them to share with my fellow Hoons no matter how much that is my passion. However, recently, this olelongrooffan was heading south on the Tamiami Trail down to pick up my cache of oxford shirts from my dry cleaners and passed by this Mobil filling station that always captures my interest. And today was no different. Can my fellow Hoons see just what it is that captured my attention?
