While we do have Craigslist in Australia, it is not widely used as it is in the USA to sell cars.

So I have turned to everyone’s favourites used car site in Aus to bring you these hidden gems currently for sale.

First of our three examples is this iconic 80’s Commodore.

Nicknamed the “Walky” after Tom Walkinshaw, the founder of HSV.  The 1988 Holden Special Vehicle Group A SS was built in limited of numbers of just 750. It was built to allow Holden to homologate the car as a race car in the Group A Touring Car Series. It featured a 5L V8 Engine that put out 180 kW (241 hp) and only came in one colour, Panorama Silver.

Simona De Silvestro signs with Australian Supercars Series

Exciting news this morning out of Australia that Swiss racing driver Simona De Silvestro has signed a 3 year deal with the Australia Supercars series to compete in the series from 2017. De Silvestro, who has competed in Indy Car and Formula E, will drive for the Kelly Racing/Nissan Motorsport in a Nissan Altima, will be the series’s first full-time female driver.

But before the 2017 Season begins, Simona will again compete at the Bathurst 1000 race as part of the Harvey Norman Supergirls team alongside Aussie driver Renee Gracie. The pair will be competing this year in a Nissan Altima as part of new team deal.

Holden Australia has today confirmed its ongoing commitment to the Australian Supercar Championship. But the big news is the choice of team that Holden have given their support too.

Prodrive Racing Australia V8 Supercars Livery Launches

A few weeks back we talked V8 Supercar launches from the leading Holden Team, Red Bull Racing Australia.

Over the past couple of weeks the leading Ford Team, Prodrive Racing Australia has unveiled their two young gun’s cars for 2016 season, both with cool launch videos

First was the Chaz Mostert, who is returning to the car after a horror crash at last years Bathurst 1000 race, where he broke his leg and wrist in a huge crash.
Mostert’s main sponsor is Supercheap Auto, an Australian Auto parts store chain.

HCOTY Nominee – 2016 VF Holden Commodore

Australia loves its rear wheel drive v8 powered sedan, but Australian built versions are on the way out. Both local manufacturers Holden and Ford will cease to build the Commodore and the Falcon after 2017.

So my nomination for this years Hooniverse Car of the Year is the 2016 Holden VFII V8 Holden Commodore, because it is the most powerful Holden Commodore ever built and who doesn’t love a company going out on top.
