Saving Memories – My Coast-to-Coast Drive with an F-150

It’s the most ordinary and least exciting thing I could have possibly gotten, but what led me to buy this 2002 Ford F-150 in California and drive it across the country was pure sentimentality above all else. Ford sold millions of these tenth-generation F-150s and there’s almost as many of them here in Georgia as there are Waffle Houses, so what was worth saving about this one Estate Green SuperCrew XLT located on the other side of the country?

Memories. It was bought new by my grandfather and then lent to us every summer when we flew out west to see family, so over the course of fifteen years we have several thousands of miles’ worth of memories and experiences in that truck. When it wasn’t needed anymore, I was given an opportunity to buy something I’ve loved since I was a kid and given an excuse to drive coast-to-coast to get it back.

Yes, there were easier ways to get it here and no, I don’t really need it. But logic be damned, I was getting it home.

Jaguar XE SV Project 8 – A True Super Sedan

Greg Kachadurian June 28, 2017 The News!

When Jaguar announced a new XE-based project from their Special Vehicle Operation (SVO) division with the promise of it being the most powerful, agile, and extreme road car they’ve ever built, they had our curiosity. Following yesterday’s full reveal with all the glorious details, they now have our attention.

The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is Jaguar’s second SVO project (the first being the spectacular F-Type Project 7) and it takes the brand into the exciting world of super sedans for the first time with a 200 mph, 592-horsepower, all-wheel-drive beast. During the transition from standard Jaguar XE luxury sedan to record-breaking Project 8, SVO leveraged the standard car’s strong underpinnings and lightweight aluminum construction to produce an “extreme performance sports car with no compromise”.

There’s a lot to talk about here and it’s all good.

Aston Martin Confirms Their First Production EV – Blah! or Brah?

Greg Kachadurian June 28, 2017 The News!

It’s been a few years since we last heard of the Aston Martin RapidE, but the ongoing project to deliver the company’s first all-electric production car just got another step closer to reality. Aston Martin released this concept sketch and a promise to bring 155 examples to market by 2019.

The RapidE will be based upon the sportier Rapide AMR that was just revealed at Geneva this year, meaning it’ll have more aggressive styling and a more capable chassis. Of course capitalizing the E in RapidE means an all-electric powertrain, co-developed with Williams Advanced Engineering, replaces the 6.0-liter V12. I can’t think of a more depressing sentence I’ve ever written.

That’s all we really know about it at this point. Expect it to be fast, offer instantaneous torque (and probably their fastest 0-60 time ever), and very beautiful. But is it still really an Aston Martin without those wonderful sounds we’ve come to expect?
