Last Call- Pagani Baby Gone Edition

PaganiTopGearIP

On last Sunday’s debut episode of Top Gear Season 19, one of the highlights was Richard Hammond’s track flogging of Pagani’s new Huayra (pronounced Hoooooo-wire-haired terrier) which was later anointed as their track’s new top dog. The car as a whole is amazing, to be sure, but the part that I found the most interesting is the Flash Gordon future-past instrument cluster, which as you can see above out-steams any punk.

Looks like something from a '90s TVR.

"Autonomy" on the center display is just a fancy way to say "distance to empty," or…?

I thought it was the number of miles during which either you or the computers had most of the control of the car.

      Proximity of the nearest cop.

Huyara … as in "who are ya"
Rich f'n douchebag who can afford one of these?
Super skilled engineer who has managed to engineer a world dominating vehicle for a company whose R&D budget is a fraction of what "real" car makers spend on trim rings?
Top Gear producer who has figured out how to sustain the franchise well beyond its logical shelf life?
or me… average Joe who sees shit like this and then gets distracted by the immobile vehicular sculpture in the garage that hasn't been operational for the last 8 months… and has to guess which offers better odds … the chance that I'll get to drive something like this or the chance that my former daily driver will see the road again.

I have one of those, too!

You will get her running again, you just need the time and funds, don't fret about it.

Funds are there. It's the time I can't muster.- I've been working 7×12 for months.

Crap, house stuff? Not finished yet?

Yes. Had to buy out my partner. The end is in sight though.

You might have about the right timing though. I have a feeling you should do very well in spring. I worry right before summer a lot of house will be go for sale though, so hurry it up! Also, if you get down to the wire and really need two or four left hands, let me know.

That's very kind. However, when we get to meet face to face, it will be under festive circumstances.

I wish they'd go Steampunk on the exterior, too.

Still do prefer the steampunk Spyker dash, as I do the shifter mechanism

I like what Hammond said: "Its like a Victorians vision of the 23rd century." Totally.

The front end of the Huayra is hideous. The interior is so over styled that I more or less want to throw up in it, I find it very tacky and tasteless no matter how well executed. Even its name that is near impossible to pronounce I find very annoying and willfully stupid. More or less everything about the Huayra annoys me so much that even if I had the money to buy 10 of them… I'd buy an Agera R instead.

I hate the design as well, but you can't deny the performance. Seeing the active aero dancing around during the power lap was pure eye candy, though.
Ever thought we'd see a car where it would have TWO traction control dummy lights?

Am I the only one that despises directional wheels? The "twist" wheels machined from billet are terrible to look at. They look like something that you could get at AutoZone for your Civic…

I've sat in two of them and shot every little detail of the cars. I really don't like them. They have a bunch of cool details like the cluster, the shifter, the mirrors, but all put together it just doesn't work. It's like the car is trying way too hard.
