Last Call: Get In My Belly Edition

Peter Tanshanomi October 3, 2018 Last Call 11 Comments

As the former owner of a much-loved and much-missed Yamaha WaveJammer personal watercraft identical to the one in this photo, I can honestly say that this 1987 Toyota Mobile Base concept truck would be everything I would ever want in an SUV.

Last Call indicates the end of the Hooniverse broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.

    That is pure genius.

I didn’t know Rube Goldberg even had a jet ski.

Starting to think about the firewood harvest season, my mind wanders to tools like this:

Has anyone here ever driven such a machine? The efficiency of this one person sitting there with their joysticks is insane.

Clearly some brilliant engineer was trapped in the woods for a decade or so. Those things are elegant in their efficiency.

I guess there’s a fair bit of maintenance and upkeep to keep the chains and knives sharp and operational. But the sheer volume of the work, and the speed of it…dazzling.

And after you’re done down at the lake, you can offload the watercraft and charge a premium to scoop up drunks and Uber them back home with only a quick hose out needed at the end of the night.

I assume they never actually tested it, lest it rusted beyond repair the moment they reloaded the PWC.

    • Yes, management of water drainage and long-term humidity issues would have to be carefully considered. And in a concept vehicle, probably weren’t.

  • Me on the aforementioned Wave Jammer.
