Come To The Best of France and Italy Car Show This Sunday

Hi everybody, it’s me, Mario! Just kidding, it’s really just your old friend, Graverobber, er, Rob. I wanted to pop in to my favorite Hoon hangout to let you all know about a cool car show that’s coming up this Sunday.

The Best of France and Italy show is the annual companion show to the Queen’s English Car Show, and both are put on by my friends Chuck Forward and Tina Van Curen who also own Autobooks Aerobooks in Burbank, California. Chuck loves Citroëns and Tina grooves on Alfas, and together they put on a hell of a show.

The show is non-judged and very laid back. Typically about 250 cars, trucks, and… well, I don’t know what some of the stuff on display actually is, but it’s all pretty cool nonetheless. If you happen to be in the Los Angeles area on Sunday and have some time to kill, I highly recommend swinging by and taking in all the Galic charm and Italianate magic. You’ll have a good time, I guarantee.

Things get started at 9:00 and wrap up at 3:00 in the afternoon. In between there’s cars, music, people walking funky dogs (I don’t know why, but there are always weird dogs at these shows), and food trucks in case you get peckish. Admission is free for walk-ins.

  • Sounds like fun but that’s a bit far for me under the circumstances. Besides, I’m more of a “Worst of France” kind of guy.

        I’m trying to figure out the ‘worst’ part here. With the SM the Maserati engine is finicky. Avantime, sure, I’ll give you that one. What’s ‘worst’ about a 504 convertible? I still imagine my future with one of those.

          It’s a French car made in Italy. At the height of ‘how cheap can we get this steel’ European rust problems, and it has no roof.
          There is a reason why Gamma Coupes and Ferrari 400s were hard tops.

            I forgot about the rust issues. Fair point.
            With my daily also being a French brand Italian (Pininfarina) built car, direct offspring of the 504 (a 406 coupe) and my toy also having the same Italian-French connection (205 CTi convertible) I’m a bit biased I guess. That 406 is bulletproof and doesn’t rust (300+k on the odometer) and my 30 year old 205 isn’t that rust prone either.
            Sadly those RWD Peugeots were like Japanese cars; mechanically very stout but steel made of cheese.

              To be fair, as also were BMW E3s, E9s, E21s, MB 107s 108s, Jaguars, early Audis, Renaults etc. All the first few generations of ‘chassisless’ monocoque construction and poorly understood ‘rust-proofing’ worldwide.
