Last Call: Joy to the World Edition

Robert Emslie April 19, 2017 Last Call 11 Comments

This is the Norwegian Joy, and yes, that’s a go kart track… on the top deck of the ship. Up to ten electric go karts at a time can vie for fastest car on the seven seas, or at least last car on the track when the going gets rocky. The ship will deliver later this month, and will board its first paying passengers in June for fun-filled treks out of Shanghai and Tianjin.

Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day.  It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.

Planning ahead is an important part of every project. Tarquin here is working in a fully tiled room, which will make washing up the impending sprays of blood and eyeball goo a snap!

Shout out to Instructables (dot com), that wellspring of Darwin Awards always delivers!

Just think of what they could have charged if they had made it a Ferrari themed gokart track.

Considering what I wrote two days ago, this just looks like a ridiculously concerted effort to tickle out some puke. Also, I’ve never understood the appeal of cruises: You are limiting yourself to a noisy, shaky pile of metall on the sea, with the smell of heavy exhaust everywhere, surrounded by random people who are probably drunk. Why?

    • If you actually go to interesting destinations (say, Alaska or the Mediterranean, rather than some featureless Caribbean sand pimples), you can spend one day in a wonderful city, then have your hotel move you and your luggage to another fascinating place while you sleep. It beats dragging your luggage to a train station every day.

To be honest, that sounds like a lot of music venues I’ve had great nights out in.

this one ups the level of wretched excess for cruise experiences way beyond the ocean liner with the Olympic size swimming pool on the top deck.

How long until someone launches one over the edge?
