Weekend Edition: Hot August Nights – The Peppermill

Stop #2 was the Peppermill casino parking lot. This was one of the “officially sanctioned” stops, so there were a few hundred cars on display at this show. I didn’t bother going to the biggest show at the Grand Sierra, because it was a madhouse, and I didn’t go downtown, because that’s always a mess. These few that I went to were enough for me, though. If you’ve seen one parking lot full of hot rods, you’ve pretty much seen them all. The doors at the Peppermill are tinted red, so I thought I’d snap a photo through them. It’s weird.

Why yes, I do, in fact.IMG_8307

HAWK!
IMG_8312

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Nomad in person before. This was pretty cool.

The world needs more Pontiac enthusiasts.

IMG_8323

And Buick performance cars. IMG_8329

This was a really cool old Willys. On modern rubber like this one, I bet they can get through most anything life can throw at you.

IMG_8366

Don’t see Packards very often. I was so awestruck, this was the only photo I got of it.

IMG_8368

Neat road-racer replica. I don’t think this car ever actually raced, but I could be wrong. Nice Monte Carlo bar, though.

IMG_8370

The Riverside decal is a nice touch, too.

This truck was cool, but it might have been trying just a little too hard.

IMG_8385

This nose and the ghost flames had me gagging. Poor-vette.

IMG_8386

GT350 Replica. Mostly convincing, but not convincing enough for this eagle-eye.

IMG_8388

I really dug this BelAir.

IMG_8391

This guy had business cards printed up with his website on them. I… Um…

Wrong show, buddy. Hard to pass up taking a picture of an MGA on Panasports, though.

IMG_8418

All my friends drive these, apparently.

IMG_8420

Why are all these stock brits showing up at hot rod shows?

IMG_8421

Also: Why are all these stock brits showing up at hot rod shows?
They need to stop and let the smoke disperse somewhere…

That Hemistang is no worse than the F-body Superbird I found a couple of weeks back.

  • Fuhrman16

    Excellent pics!
The hot rod with the cut out flame job hood is a pretty neat take on an old paint scheme.
And as for that Nomad, did they start out with a Corvette and add a wagon roof to it, or was it a wagon they added Corvette body panels to?
