2015 GMC Sierra Denali 2500HD: The big rig for the boss

2015 gmc sierra denali 2500hd

A change in perspective. That’s what I got when I first slid my dark blue jeans onto the comfortable leather seat of the 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 2500HD. You see, I’m typically quite a bit lower to the ground due to all the expensive/fast/luxurious/loud/exotic machines that I somehow wind up holding the keys to.

The change in perspective was necessary to get my head out of the clouds… but now my head sits a heck of a lot closer to the actual clouds. Still, I’ve apparently not given up any bits of the level of luxury I’ve experienced as of late because this is one truck that knows how to treat its driver and passengers right.

[Disclaimer: GM loaned me this lovely brute for a week. They included a tank of Shaq Diesel fuel, and I most certainly didn’t use up all of it because the fuel economy is excellent for a beast of burden that’s this big.]

Can't watch the video yet, but what always bothers me with this design is all the stuff that becomes invisible right in front of the hood. Getting close to an actual "truck" in the European sense…

Good to see the truckies are as in to customizing their rigs as the truckers are.

  • I Think Not

Came for gratuitous display of rubber-disintegrating torque.

Instead heard a bunch of stuff about "work" being done in a pickup that costs as much as a midsized German luxury sedan.

    Leaving disappointed.

What I am taking home: Incredible wide lanes you have over there! How come you can have two of those monsters next to each other without getting over the yellow line? And 64000$ sounds like a lot for a giant piece of luxury machinery, but, hey, look what you get in Norway for that money, to gain some perspective

This being a very positive review, it would have been nice to see the truck actually doing some work. Or some acting of that "getting the job done", big boss handling small guys kind of thing, haha. Or maybe just a size comparison to a vintage GMC or another planet in our solar system.

US tax laws treat trucks like this much more favorably than luxury cars, even if the vehicle is not used to carry cargo but is otherwise used in business (a salesman taking a client to lunch, perhaps). Back when Hummer was still a viable brand, this was sometimes called the "Hummer loophole".

Automakers don't draw attention to it, but do tailor products like this towards business owners successful enough to have savvy tax advisors.

    • This video was originally shot for a different channel… unfortunately. Otherwise I would've totally been ruining tires.

Still, didn't want it to go to waste.

        I see.

        Waste not, want not.

Would that Denali smoke the tires? Sure, the raw power is there … under the management of an advanced AWD system purposely designed to not let the wheels slip, correct?

Just the thing to take your kids to school.
