Wagon-y Wednesday: Ford Mustang Hearse

Yes, it is what it seems, a Mustang GT convertible converted (ha!) into a hearse. The wheelbase got stretched and the top permanently (I think) converted (!) into a shooting brake kind of a wagon thing with what looks like a tailgate or a hatch.

Great way for a Mustang enthusiast go out. I wonder if I could get Boss 302 or GT500 version, I hate long goodbyes.

The Mustang hearse lives somewhere in Mexico City and offers a final ride to many who may have only dreamed of owning such car.

I wonder if they put a roll-bar to reduce the chassis flex due to the increased wheelbase and funky top. Racing seats and harnesses? Should it be black?

What other cars should be turned in hearses?

Prius hearse leaves all occupants feeling dead inside.

No way that's a functional hearse, I think that's the driver showing how feels inside….

Oh, and I just noticed this is in Mexico. Figures, they love oddball hearses down there. My ex-wife was Mexican, so I used to spend quite a bit of time in Mexicali, and one of her relatives lived near a large cemetery, so i got to see lots of their home built hearses – Grand Marquis and Crown Vics seemed to be the most popular.

I was a pall bearer at her grandfather's funeral, and I noticed something odd about the Lincoln Navigator hearse we loaded the coffin into – the body of the hearse was cracking. Upon further investigation, I realized it was simply a ~2000 F-150 (V6 with a 5-speed and bench seat) that had a Navigator nose, hearse body, and Navigator tail lights and license plate panel grafted on.

I saw an F-150, regular cab and short bed, turned Navigator/Mart LT this weekend in New Jersey but was too slow with the camera. :(

There's a regular cab/long bed Caddy pickup running around Boston too, seen it twice so far, also too slow with the cam.

I would suck as a spy photographer.

I've seen more than one Silverado/Suburban turned Navigator wannabe. I guess they couldn't hunt down Escalade parts?

I'll keep an eye out for that Silvelade, in case it comes up this way. Black, I assume?

You know it. Dare I say, it's look pretty good.

  • POLAЯ

After some of the things I have heard about Mexico, I figured every car down there was a hearse.

We should have a best custom hearse showdown!

Is this really pop culture's one and only hearse?

  • MVEilenstein

I want to be hauled in the wooden bed of a 62 F-100 Custom.

Mustang Hearse… that's what you call "flogging a dead horse!"

  • Sjalabais

I like this so much it creeps me out a little bit.

Even though I'd intuitively tend to be wanting a Nilsson or the king of the farmer's hearses:

…I do appreciate the fun in a Mustang hearse a lot!
