Weekend Edition – A 1988 Ferrari Mondial, which now qualifies for AACA Events

image

According to the American Antique Car Association, anything produced during the model year 1988 (and before) now qualifies as an antique, and it is eligible to be judged at AACA shows and functions. So, for this weekend, I thought I would see what 1988 cars are available for sale on eBay, and see if they would be lustworthy enough for you to covet (or not).

This is the dealer where I purchased my last car, and they seem to be OK when it comes to their merchandise. According to the listing:

1988 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Convertible 5 Speed – 3.2L V8 – 4 Seater Sports Car – New Tires – Very Clean – Only 22K Mi!!

The highly desirable Mondial cabriolet has the added distinction of being the only 4-seat, mid-rear engine, convertible automobile ever manufactured in regular production. This Mondial comes with recent service history, new tires and re-finished alloy wheels. Throw the friends or the kids in the back and have a blast.

1988 Ferrari Mondial 2dr Cabriolet 2+2 (3.2L 8cyl 5M) with Red Exterior, Black Interior. Loaded with 3.2L V8 Engine, 5-Speed Manual Transmission, Premium Leather Bucket Seats, Leather Steering Wheel Trim, Leather Interior Trim, SONY Audio System, Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Exterior Mirrors, Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel, Antilock Brakes, New Bridgestone Potenza Tires, 16 Inch Alloy Wheels and more.

The Buy-it-Now price for this least desirable Ferrari is $34,980. You know, that is almost used Mercedes-Benz pricing, but still a lot of money considering. Take a look at the listing here: 1988 FERRARI MONDIAL 3.2 CABRIOLET And tell me what you think.

This is a test for producing posts on an I-Pad…

I know most people hate these, but I have always liked them. Especially this newest generation, with the updated fascias front and rear. $34k is a bit rich though, this would be a better deal in the mid-20s. The low miles hurt this one because it raises the value too much for buyers who would be interested.

The iPad post works fine, I couldnt tell any difference.

I would really rather have a coupe. Too bad those are much rarer than the drop top.

The 1988 Ferrari Mondial, it puts the "Laid no" in Mondial… in special backwards Devil writing!.

I wish it were called the Tondial…

    • chrystlubitshi says:

if you include that fact that it is a North American version, it is an "NA Mondial" which kinda gives you "laid no man" for what it got the owners….??? (not too much of a stretch… right?)

      • POLAЯ says:

        No.
        No, no….
Too much of a stretch would be if we took at least one of your extra question marks and put it in front of laid,
then Italian gypsies storm through my front door on Ferrari Segways to put a no more of the getting laid for you curse on me,
to which I fire back HA, I'm already married!.

Crack pipe price, dealers dreaming as usual…

This was my favourite of the Mondials; mid-series, before they squared off the side intake. I like all Mondials, they're much more capable than people give them credit for. This one is identical to the one in Madonna's Material Girl video, but we'll forgive it that little transgression.

The problem is, the Mondial will always be seen as Ferrari's Porsche.
