Long Shots: 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 Wanna Be Race Car

LongRoofian December 17, 2012 All Things Hoon 19 Comments

So just after the Holiday Parade down here in the little burg where I schlep trailers, this thing pulled in to the parking lot.

At first this olelongrooffan was excited as hell. The 63 Ford sponsored by English Motors. WooHoo.

Until I got a little closer and realized this was a clone of that famous racecar and it is a dream of some old dude.

But ya know what? That’s okay. This ole Hoon is having fun in his retirement and if he wants to recreate an old school race car more power to him.

Currently engineless? The front end looks pretty high.

    And I want that trailer!

Didn't notice if it was engineless but now that you mention it, I don't see an oil pan sticking out down below so you could be correct. It belongs to a friend of TheBigBoss so I suspect I'll see it again.

As far as that trailer? I sell three or four a month just like it. $4,840.00 plus delivery.

    mmmm…needs a 409 Tri-power with like 12.5:1 compression.

Oddly enough, they backed those up with the same T-10 that's in my Falcon. Trying to figure out if mine's ridiculously overspec'ed or the trans was basically a wear item on a bigger car.

    Any more pics? Inside?
I dream of having a car like this for my commute.

    Rosies Ktchn!

I noticed that too. So, they abbrev'd the name of their business to fit an existing sign or something? Of course, we might be due to see more of that, because there is a whole generation coming up who won't understand anything unless it is written in txt msg.

Built with 1964 NASCAR specs as a guideline. Fully welded chassis, integrated roll cage, strengthened springs and double shocks, swaybars front and rear, solid bushings throughout, Ford FE 446 engine, 4-speed toploader trans, 3.50 9" rear with LSD.

    cross the street?

…Rosies' is closed…the food sucked big time…besides, she was a bitch and complained everytime somebody at the trailer store blocked her drive…but back to the point….why didn't somebody tell the tow vehicle he needed a 4 inch drop down hitch..????.. the tongue of that trailer reminds me of a trip hauling a 54 Desoto down I-44….had a hitch too high and the trailer passed us at about 60 mph…17 inches…and do not complain when the rear tires of that trailer are worn out after 3 or 4 trips….but all and all, a really sweet ride…I just wish more would rebuild these classics….N one A thletic S port C entered A round R ednecks….still gotta love it…
