Hooniverse Weekend Edition – A 1957 Chevrolet Snub Nosed Truck on Craigslist

Jim Brennan August 19, 2012 For Sale, Weekend Edition 9 Comments

Welcome to the Sunday Edition of the Hooniverse Weekend. I found this listing over at the Ornch Car Cult Facebook Page, and it is really a rare and wonderful beast. Now what could you possibly do with a Chevrolet Snub Nosed Tractor? You are only bound by your imagination (and your budget)…

According to the listing:

1957 Chevrolet snub nosed Truck. This truck is as close to rust free as they come. Floors, fenders and doors are solid with nothing more than a little surface rust. Was purchased as a project, but the projects keep adding up, and just don’t have the time. 283 V-8 will run, but needs a gas tank, fuel line and a battery. 5100 Series Heavy duty truck. Wrap around rear window. This truck will make a fun project. Call or email for more pic’s. If emailing, please put COE in the subject line so I know it’s real. If it’s listed, it is still for sale. This truck will need to be hauled, we could deliver, charge negotiable.

Asking price for this unusual truck is $3,900, but you will need to have it transported, so figure that cost into your equation. The listing said he was negotiable, so why not take a look at it here, and tell me what you could do with this truck.

I think these snub-nosed trucks make great car haulers like this '49 Chevy.

Cool truck, real nice.It would look good hauling a "Tilt-A Whirl".

I wish this was one of Antti's posts, so there could be a Peugeot towing the trailer.

I have a toy '58 LCF sitting on my desk right now. Same color too, but with chrome wheels and grill and double headlights.

I love these trucks. Dream tow rig would be a COE/LCF from the late '50s with a 6.7L Cummins engine. Pulling what, I'm not really sure. Maybe an Airstream.

I would love this to tow my house with (40ft 5th wheel travel trailer), but wonder what kind of ride it would give.
Great truck and would be perfect to have……
oh where is my winning powerball ticket when I need it.

Short flat bed = Ultra cool errand truck. 5th wheel setup = Ultra cool toy / RV hauler. I want it, but unfortunately it probably cost as much to get it to the east coast as the purchase price.

Wait, isn't this Hooniverse Summer of Road Trips???? …..

Combine this with a Cummins/Allison drive train. Then add an Air Stream trailer for a camper of awesome.
