Some Cool Ass Old School Race Photos

So that Chevette the esteemed Mr. Brennan posted over the weekend certainly deserves respect. How about this Vega? Part of my new gig shleping trailers is to monitor a bunch of car forums and answer some trailer related questions. Yeah, my job sucks. Anyway over on one of the Corvette forums

Forum member DAN70 posted a ton of cool old posts and several other members of that forum jumped with many more.

While many of them are of C3 Corvettes, there are many others that are pretty damn cool.

Including this one featuring a moderately famous race car driver who got his start in the 75 Datsun in the first photo.

If you look through, you can also see a comment from Lou Gillotti.

66grid looks like Mid-Ohio with the cars lined up counter-clockwise.

Gawd! That Buick Skyhawk could have been my Uncle's, but that wasn't his number. Keep the old photos coming!

Fantastic. I need to scan some of my old photos. At the time, it didn't seem like a great era. But in retrospect, not so bad. It had its moments.

Newman? Whoa. I can remember seeing him one time at the SCCA Regionals (1979?), at the closed Great Southwest Intl Airport (Amon Carter Field), south of DFW Airport. He was working as a crew member on some open-wheel car – maybe a Formula Ford. He was sporting a beard at the time.
