Last Call- Robin Could Edition

Robert Emslie June 27, 2012 Last Call 12 Comments

Top Gear routinely derides the three-wheel Reliant Robin for its less than stellar handling prowess. Robin supporter and invenerate tinkerer Bernard Reeves had enough of their mockery of so fine a piece of efficient British engineering and so built the Rugged Robin, a Reliant featuring tank treads and multiple machine guns. Fear of this tripodal terror may better explain the extended hiatus of Top Gear than something as trivial as the Olympics.

Bravely bold Sir Robin drove forth from the car lot
He was not afraid to tip, O brave Sir Robin
He was not at all afraid to be crashed in nasty ways
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin
He was not in the least bit scared to be changed into a military vehicle
to have his wheels cut out and treads installed
To have his interior removed and his top hacked away
And all his paint done in flat green, brave Sir Robin
And big guns installed and his windsheild removed
    And fake markings applied
    He is brave Sir Robin,
    Brave Sir Robin who…
    To fight and……………
    Brave Sir Robin drove away
    Bravely, drove away…away…
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned on his taillights and fled
Yes, brave Sir Robin's afraid to fight
but at least he got the standard-shift right
    Bravely clutching with his foot

    Apologies to Monty Python

It was a very cold winter, and we had to burn Robin's Marina for warmth.

    • Ruggeds Dad

That is pure brilliance Mr B27, the Rugged one has asked for that to be emblazoned onto his coat of alms, (laminated to resist sea water of course) however I haven't yet shown him further than line eleven, lest it diminishes his confidence when the inevitable battle (Clarkson will cheat) commences!

According to Jezza… It's gonna need a thicker rollbar.

Just what we've been needing, a submicro arms race.

  • Is that an outboard motor on the back?

    • PowerTryp

It does look that way doesn't it? It all so appears to have had the door seams sealed and if it has had a proper under body sealing this little thing could very well be amphibious.

That would make it even more likely that the square tube by the driver is an SAS style compass mount.

    "2/3 Track"!
