I like it! I want it! Sadly though, it costs about twice what I can afford to spend on a new car. Oh well…. maybe I'll be able to find one to fix up for cheap on Craigslist in about 10 years.
I am really eager to see how this and the BRZ are reviewed. Not that I put too much faith in car reviews, but if I am seriously looking at a new car, I need as much information as possible about it.
It's not anything more than a track day, it's the Toyota version and the reviewer is a bit of a fanboy but it has been driven by people outside the company. Enjoy.
Thanks. It sounds pretty damn fun on the track. I guess I just want to find out about everyday survivability via a week-long test by our esteemed editor, Jeff.
Evo in the UK compared them to the Porsche Cayman in terms of balance and fun-to-drive. Guaranteed the universal gripe is 200HP and skinny tires – at which time everyone forgets that a turbo motor and bigger wheels would cost a few grand more.
I don't know, I think 300hp and fat tires would make the car much, much less fun to drive. I want limits that I get to play with, not ones way above what I can do on public roads. That's the part I think they got right– just fast enough to be fast, but with limits that will make you feel heroic. There are plenty of cars on the road with really fast numbers that feel like dental anaesthesia to drive.
Right. I know a guy who crippled himself for life about half an hour after picking up his Porsche from the tuner shop. He, like most of us, would have been better served by better handling dynamics at far lower limits. Similarly to how a 427 Cobra is just too much of a good thing, compared to the better balance of a 289.
five grand and a back seat says no. Also, I don't think the hairdressers of the world are interested in the FR-S. However, I do bet the next update of the TC will look more like the FR-S.
I haven't checked to see if Scion was even going to continue to sell the TC when this comes out actually. Since the TC was supposed to be it's Celica it's role is really done. I mean let's be honest this replaces that completely.
Well hold on let's think this out TC = Celica FR-S= Supra?
The AE-86 ran alongside the Celica and both sold well so I don't see why they can't have these side by side. Driving dynamics will be quite different and I don't believe there will be a huge amount of cross shopping going on.
Having developed an affliction for Japanese Nostalgics over the past year or so I've come to realize what an extciting company Toyota once was. This car harks back to a day when Toyota was filled with RWD coupes for the world to enjoy and I couldn't be more excited for it.
I see a lot of the Genisis in the rear 3/4 shot. I hope they have more PAH! and cheaper or the same price or it will be a fail on there part. IT will be intresting to see the reveiws and how it stacks up.
Could be a real hit, but hard to tell with that color and lighting.
It is probably the red. It really reminded me of Ducati's red that looks like a funky orange in photos.
Now if they offer a lo-budget version as in Japan with unpainted plastic work and steel wheels in the States…
just add turbos.

I guess I just want Jeff to tell me if it is any good or not.
That guy? He couldn't drive a nail in a turnip.
He's right behind me, isn't he?
Sure, but he can bloviate like no ones business. So there is that.

Will the FR-S kill the TC sales?

Boy I sure hope so. It would be a major sign to all other manufacturers (I'm looking at you Nissan) that RWD+Light+Affordable = winning combo.
