Video: An arresting Japanese cartoon brought stateside courtesy of AnimEigo

AnimEigo is an American company that licenses Japanese films and anime, and then distributes the works in new markets. One show in particular caught the eye of Friend of Hooniverse Tanshanomi. It’s called You’re Under Arrest, and the cartoon focuses on two female police officers named Natsumi Tsujimoto and Miyuki Kobayakawa. Originally, the series ran in manga form from 1987 through 1992. From there, YUA was animated, and a bunch of episodes were churned out.

In the clip posted after the break, the two policewomen are in pursuit of a hopped-up Mini. Luckily, their Honda police car is also worked over, and the duo kick things into high gear to catch up to the crims.

Check out the video after the break.

So tell us, where can we see more of this?

In case anyone's curious, the gals are driving a Honda Today. Here's a real life police version (or at least a replica thereof):

I thought it was International Mandate that the VO crews from Cowboy Bebop and Samurai 7 did all shows?

    Well it should be.

    O.O

Seriously though, there are only about a dozen top-tier American voice actors who do this stuff. It's one of the reasons I prefer subs… there's at least a little variety in the vocal talent!

Well! She added twin cams! I must add twin cams to my car! And bore it out to 700ccs! And I must stick on an air cooled turbocharger!

    Wait…

    • DemonXanth says:

She did say "intercooled turbocharger". And swapping a SOHC head for a DOHC head isn't unheard of on 4 cylinder engines. The max keicar displacement is 660cc from the factory.

[youtube -DeD3lQHwy0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DeD3lQHwy0 youtube] When I was a kid, I liked this cartoon with the car. I just saw the Polish version of the intro, it sounds so much like the English one! It's fortunate accident that Go Gadget sounds a lot like Chase Gadget in Polish.

You can't go wrong with YUA! Plus, she had a Motocompo:

I wasn't aware police officers frequently took to modifying their squad cars. Are there whole fleets of P71s running around with engine bays of go-fast goodies stolen from Mustang catalogs?

  8. Gooseboy78 says:

if they had a honda city turbo running 20 psi (turning the boost up no mods) they would have caught that ERA turbo mini. the era turbo was just a twin cam and tubo version of the bmc a series.
