    The horror….

  2. Maxichamp says:

Serious question. Do they buy these body kits at a shop or are they custom made? Because there can't be a huge market for these.

  3. lilwillie says:

Could you take this picture down before Napcar gets any ideas on how to go back to "stock cars".

  4. Maymar says:

Seriously? We'll have to wait for all the Cobalts to rust away before the J-body guys really start looking elsewhere, although I'm still convinced the Kia Forte Coupe is their next step.

That said, I don't entirely hate this – it really should've been done to one of the grill-less Crown Vics ('92 or so), and I'd prefer a different set of wheels. But overall, Panthers are cheap and easy enough to much around with that I approve of the experimentation.

      I kinda dig it.
No huge loss- just someone having fun.

      • B72 says:

I like the wheels. Right now that bumper stands out with the primer, but I think the car will look good when it's all one color.

    • BradleyBrownell says:

"grille-less" was 1992. It was called the aero-vic, and it was one year only. I had one, and I LOVED it.

      • tonyola says:

If you were lucky enough to have the 1992 Touring Sedan, you had something pretty special – basically a cop-spec P71 but with a boatload of options, luxury interior, two-tone paint, and lacey wheels. I still think the grille-less '92s are the best-looking of the aero-Panther Fords.

          Ooooh.

I feel a nationwide search coming on!

          This is bad.

        • dukeisduke says:

I've always thought those were hip, but I didn't realize they had P71 underpinnings. I used to see a couple pretty regularly. The wheels are genuine BBS, IIRC. It just needs a four-cam 5.4.

      • Maymar says:

I knew the Aero-Vic was '92 for certain, I couldn't remember if they brought the grille back for '93 or '94. Either way, I really like the looks of the '92.

Here is something to distract you from this thing: we went for a walk earlier today and spotted a few interesting cars on the street. https://plus.google.com/photos/117835118185958118
We then then walked to the Fisker / McLaren dealership (my wife's suggestion! She's the best!). The Karma looks very impressive but as reported in these parts earlier, tiny on the inside…
The McLaren showroom had one LP24C (or whatever the name of their new car is), A Lamborghini Gallardo, a formula one and a McLaren F1! This is the first time I've seen an F1 in person. It still looks amazing and modern not at all out of place in company of the younger cars.

this could be a lot worse, and seeing as it's still a work in progress, I'm willing to vote "present." 2 things in particular would result in a huge improvement: 1) do something (anything, really) with the grill/headlights. A different generation of the car would have been a better bet there; 2) get side skirts on it. That alone will supply some much needed balance. The wheels are decent.

    • mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

I think the owner is trying something with the lights, it looks like primer there on the sides, like an attempt to blank-out as much as can be. That will be nice and I think the grille works too, but s/he should put a band across it to make people think, "Volvo?"

  7. Alff says:

This is what happens when the oldest ricebois reach retirement age.

  8. DemonXanth says:

It looks like they were kind of going for a 4 door Thunderbird SC type deal with a Fox mustang GT lower. Either that or a V8 Supercar Ford Falcon

  9. Sales Geek says:

If you get close you can hear the muffled voice under all that primer: "Kill me….Kill me now…please…"

    Inspiration?:

    From 1994's "Taxi"

I am ashamed I know this.

(I do not know how to post pictures, but this is the same kit)

  11. Lotte says:

Looks like what a Nascar would've looked like if they did their thing with production-based cars.

  12. Froggmann_ says:

    Needs sideskirts…

  13. sport_wagon says:

The wheel/tire combo is kinda a win though, right?

  14. C³-Cool Cadillac Cat says:

I see driving lights were inspired by Parliament.

    Flash light
Now, I lay me down to sleep
Ooh, I must now drive a heap
Flash light (ohh, I will never dance!)
    Flash light [x3]

Ha da da dee da hada hada da da

    Oh, it's no use!

    Flash light
    Red light
    Neon light
    Ooh, stop light

    Stop doing this to Panthers!

  15. P161911 says:

I'm reminded of the old early 1980s I used to see outside a local Mexican restaurant in the mid-1990s. It used aluminum siding for side skirts.

  16. FЯeeMan says:

I'll have to grab some shots of a modded Vic that's parked outside the local AutoZone/Advance Auto (one or the other…)

  17. 80SICON says:

Oh no! Granny's white Grand Marquis!

  18. Raze1138 says:

What I would do with it is paint it matte black with red detailing, drop a blown Coyote under the hood, take it to the track and call it The Spanish Inquisition. Nobody will expect it.

  19. McQueen says:

For one if your going to shit on NASCAR and you live in the land of speed get your shit together Jimmie is all bow tie love this is clearly a FoMoCo product it would be more along the lines of Matt Kenseth or Cousin Carl and would then be a Focus if your somehow getting your drives crossed . And yes Assholes there are a few of us on the hoon that enjoy NASCAR without pissing on your beloved sport , keep that in mind
