Hooniverse Asks- What Car-Related Gift Are You Expecting This Year?
In a revelation that shocked a nation, it was disclosed today that. . . not everybody celebrates Christmas! Can someone please get the smelling salts for aunt Mary? And don’t trip over her on the way. True dat, there are adherents of the Jewish faith, Hindus, Muslims, and people who just don’t give a flip, and few of them will be getting up especially early on Sunday morn.
But I’m betting that most of you have a dead tree in your living room, den, or detention center lobby, and under the boughs of many of them there are gayly wrapped packages, awaiting company from those delivered by a fat man in red. For those of you who may be eagerly shaking those presents, trying to divine their contents by weight, mass, and smell, what is it you most hope to receive?
It’s an annual event – sometimes twice a year, should you be lucky enough to have a birthday that doesn’t fall on February 29th – the opportunity for other people to give you gifts of substance , and not just those flyers for mortgage refinancing that guy on the sidewalk in front of the movie theater hands out. It’s such a unique opportunity that it’s important to make the most of it and give out some hints to increase the odds of getting something you really want, and not just another book by Khaled Hosseini.
You’ve probably been so wise, and as you are reading this site, you likely dropped some hints about getting a car-related gift. If that’s the case, what automotive surprise are you hoping to find come Christmas morning?

I want to celebrate xmas with that chick in the photo above.
She looks Indian. Perhaps your automotive gift involves a pair of Tatas.
A pair is a good idea. It's always good to carry a spare.

I was up until midnight wrapping presents- and for my son, if it isn't a HotWheel track, it's a model of a car, a Lego car set, car books or Angry Birds shirts. And that NFS: The Run… I have warped him.
Santa is bringing him a Visible V8 this year. I can't wait to put that together.
'er I mean 'we' put it together…
Ooooh, the Visible V-8 by Renwal. When I was a kid, in the '60s, a friend's older brother had a Visible V-8, mounted in the Visible Chassis. I once (in '71 or '72) built their Visible Rotary Engine.
I don't have anything specifically car related on my list, but I do have lots of tools, which in turn helps me work on cars. I'm really hoping I get some nice Milwaukee blades for my sawzall so I can start cutting up the old LeMons car in my garage.
(Not sure if you guys read tweets)
I already got my car gift this year. I was given $2000 to buy whatever car I wanted. Granted its not much, but I was able to snag the perfect '88 Civic Hatchback DX. She's in perfect running condition for being 24 and only has a few cosmetic issues. So I've been spending the left over money on her. I don't plan on racing, I just love Hondas and hatchbacks. And I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present.
we try to read them, but we occasionally miss them as well.
a stereo install kit and harness to allow me to make my commute a little more enjoyable. already have a pile of audio parts ready to be installed, just needed these other parts.
rally armor basic mudflaps. because turns out my oem ones dont do shit. and because tarmac rally poseur race car.
While not car related, it does have four wheels and is used for transportation. I'm hoping to find it under the dead tree come Sunday morning.

My daughter is getting a pogo-stick, and the ice is still at bay. You have no idea how excited I am to try that out! There has to be something wrong with me, but ever since I saw people doing tricks on pogo sticks on Shark Tank, I have wanted one.
bought the Mrs a longboard and let her ride it before xmas since weather was nice. I jumped on it once and was hooked.
and a pogo-stick sounds like fun too!
Let me give you one of mine. Merry Christmas!

I've been naughty and nice.

now i have to find that over the holidays!
Semi-related; if you can find it, make sure to give this a try too.

I'm sure you have
Since you probably already have nearly all the newer GT models, how 'bout a cool vintage die cast GT40?

Happy Hoonidays!
I'd love to have that, much more so than the new ones. I love it! I'll be looking in eBay, and I have a feeling that they are very expensive. Thanks, Flick! Happy Hoonidays to you too! ♥
I sometimes come across cool stuff like that at auto shows or antique shops, but they are definitely rare. Now that I know they exist, I'll keep an eye out.
I really dig that one in what looks like Gulf blue and orange interior…
My ex had a collection of about 200 Japanese tin die cast cars, and I bought them from him during the divorce for a song and a dance. I made lots of money when I sold them.
I always knew you were a hell of a dancer.
That I am.
Merry Christmas, friend!
I already got my car related "gift".

Some assembly required… Over my holiday break……
What is a "performance radiator"? What's special about a Koyorad?
I have no idea. It was cheap.
I just need a replacement for now. I'll spring for the custom all-aluminum one when I go forced induction…
I know Santa is bringing me a copy of Ross Bentley's "Secrets of Speed" and my son will be getting the Carrera Go Ferrari Challenge slot car set. Yesss! Ever since he was born I've been waiting for the Christmas when he's old enough for one, and he loved the one he played with at the SA Auto Show earlier this year… so, Merry Christmas, to both of us!
Speed Secrets! Great book series, Jack Baruth actually recommended that one for me. Picked it up awhile back…
Uh, her?
A new set of tires for my truck.
A flat, concrete surface and a helping hand… the last ingredients for my current modification project.
