Rhys Millen steals his Genesis Coupe back from Hyundai HQ [Video]

Hyundai has its North American headquarters located in Fountain Valley, California. The Korean automaker’s Orange County digs were looking a bit tired, so the powers that be decided it was time to raze the roof, and plop down some fancy new digs. Rhys Millen was housing his Genesis Coupe Drift car at the old HQ, which could be seen by passers-by on the 405 Freeway.
Millen didn’t want his prized sideways machine getting dusty as the old buildings came down. He decided to take matters into his own hands.
The resulting video is a rare treat in corporate-sponsored marketing tools. It’s funny, well shot, and entertaining across the entirety of its four minute and 51 second run time. Sure, it steals a bit (OK, most) of the Gymkhana video formula, but it does it in a more entertaining manner.
Click past the break for the clip.

RMR is just up the street from where I live… perhaps I should make my OWN video, attempting to steal the Gen Coupe for Hooniverse?
30mins prep
10sec attempt before tazing
could be hilarioius. lol
…Who has bail this time?
Huh, I didn't know they were tearing that down. It's two exits up from my in-laws' place and I pass it fairly often.
I hope that you mash the go pedal every time you do showing them what a V8 really is.
Yep, got to have lunch with Krafcik a few months ago… he told us (me and an Autoblog colleague) about the plans for a new building. (They were rather jealous of the Kia digs just down the road – nice building)
We told him they should use an old Hyundai S-Coupe as the initial wrecking ball…
LOL, nice wrecking ball idea! So they aren't moving down to Tustin with KIA, but staying in FV?
Am I alone in thinking that their historic up-tightness makes these types of marketing pieces that much more enjoyable? When I worked in their marketing dept., never in a million years would I suspect anything smile-inducing being approved. haha
Having met Krafcik, and had lunch with him – he seems like a real car guy, and his passion for his own brand is evident.
You should tell him that he has access to your dozens of readers if he ever wants to write some Hyundai propaganda.
Haha yeah, the Hyundai HQ did look like crap compared to the brand new Kia compound with the big pond in front.
The overhead shot at 2:44. That was my favorite moment.
I muted this whole vidja and blasted The Dreamer by Common ft NAS. It was a perfect soundtrack, strangely.
