Last Call- Clarkson Ought To Know Edition

Robert Emslie December 1, 2011 Last Call

Recently Jeremy Clarkson – or as many know him, the blowhardiest Brit – advocated the death penalty for striking British workers. As the above graphic – from his coupe Fiat – demonstrates, Jezza’s ultimate solution to the labor problem may be the preferable one.

Hi Skaycog,

So maybe you have ideas for Valentine's day? Tower always has good ones. Man that Amazon was adorable, but the prince! You know Alff's dad had one if I remember right.

Have a good one,

smz, zsm, zzz………I have no new ideas for Valentine's Day. I like your idea of family dinner with the kids participating. For a personal touch from you, pink roses. I love pink roses. Oh…….you mean Aga. What about those new "charm" bracelets at jewelry stores? Each charm, that you pick out, has a special meaning.

The news that your aunt's cancer is in the early stages is good news, indeed. I feel that everything is going to work out just fine.

What did the dummies expect? I think it's all so childish. It seems so many of the younguns on Oppo think that trolling is so much fun.

Hi Skaycog,

Sleepy again? Sorry you won't get any pink roses from me, but Alff's better half is a great florist, ask her. I don't realyl want any thing, I've recently gotten Aga a ton of stuff related to the photography. Also don't know if I have written this before. A while back I lent my parents more than four grand. They were supposed to give back a big chunk on Friday, they can't pay any. I've had this happen before, once with money and another time I sold them the C70 for a really good price when my brother needed a car and they could not get a loan. To a point I thought it was okay, they did raise me and paid a good chunk of my college, but at this point I think it's been enough. So anyway we are going on vacation next month, have to prepare since I predict I will not see much of that money back ever. I want to be clear, I'm not mad, but I just can't loan them any more money in the future, don't know if I will though, i probably will again and again, I'm a softie. And man I wish my brother would get a job to help out. He lives with them after all.

Sorry about all that. Why you make me go back to gawker? I promised myself I would not. I did not read that article, I see most were mean, but Baja Bug seemed a good reply, the one about Twilight. Too bad for him, he's welcome here if he does not troll. Aga and I watch porn, we like the older movies, mainly since they are less gross. All the close-ups with better modern cameras, that's just like aliens or something. My take on the barely legal is that really the actresses look 20-30 and most importantly do not look like they have had plastic surgery to look all the same and not attractive really to my personal preferences.

I worry a lot of the people banned will come here. Honestly, it's hard to take too much of the Spiegel type, but what's worse is those that argue about non car stuff. That happened in the morning question here today. I first tried with a joke to get it to stop, then a polite request. It still went on. Then comments started getting down votes, all ugly. I hope this place never loses it's magic.

Anyway, there's hope his place was started by people that lost their accounts for a while in a panty raid,

szm, zms, ftd………The weekend is just about here…..woo, woo! I originally had plans to go to the mountains on Saturday, but the weather doesn't look like it's going to cooperate. It's not definite for snow, but I've been caught in snowstorms in the mountains before, and it's pretty scary. It's not worth the chance. That's a touch situation with your folks. I'm thinking that you've really helped them out a lot, but you have to look out for yourself and your family first. Enough is enough. That may sound cold, but it's how I feel. How old is your brother who lives with them? I think it's time that your parents practice "tough love". My opinion.

$kaycog…

Mountain snowstorms do sound pretty scary. Steep roads, windy, not much population. Too bad you won't get to go this weekend. My dad's birthday is this weekend so we are going out to this good Mexican restaurant on Saturday to celebrate. Other than that I'm probably going to lay low and try to get over this cold I caught on Wednesday so that I am healthy and ready for the autoshow on Monday!

Have a good weekend!

mzs…

Happy Friday to you. That is some good news about your aunt. I hope everything continues on a happy course.

I am going to the autoshow this year. I was going to send you some details in my last post but decided not too in light of your bad news. I'm sure you had plenty to think about already and I didn't want to put any unnecessary pressure on you. Our plan is the same as last year's. We will be meeting up in Milwaukee Sunday and then go down to the show early on Monday morning, staying most of the day, and then grabbing some food afterwards before we depart back home.

I like your Valentine's day idea with the kids acting like restaurant people. Too bad Tuesday's are busy. You could always try and do it Monday or Wednesday night instead. We are going out on Wednesday night to The Melting Pot, it's like a fondue place and is usually pretty expensive. Tuesday night they are charging $75 a plate but Wednesday it's only $25 a plate, thus our decision for Wednesday night. Plus I told her that if we waited for Wednesday night, I would be able to afford way more chocolate and flowers so it wasn't too hard to convince her :)

Have a good weekend!

Hi Skaycog,

It's snowing here now. guess that does not affect you, but it's big fluffy flakes. At work one of the guys that has grown kids gave me a saucer sled, can't wait to try it out :) My brother is 26 years old. He has his problems and sometimes does better dealing with them and sometimes worse. Now is not a good time for him. With my father after three heart attacks and how my mother is about my brother it's not a good idea to push. I worry about him, but he has only hurt me in the past when I tried to help him. I have decided to help him one more time when he is really at he end of his rope, figure it will be the best chance for him to listen, he is not there yet. Also he was seeing a specialist, though possibly was misdiagnosed. I had before pushed for him to see another doctor. I think my brother may be bipolar, but was only diagnosed with attention disorders before. It's all complicated and hard to deal with, sorry.

Hi Tower,

Oh you would not have bothered me at all. On Saturday we are all going over to my aunt's to party. We are weird family :) I'm very excited to go to Chicago autoshow as well. Though I am going on Friday since that is when the kids have half day off school. I may only take Jake though since the others have birthday parties and friends they want to go to. Monday would be difficult for me because you gave me the best idea, I will do what I planned that evening! Happy birthday to you father! Yesterday I had a den meeting that was about music, the kids made all sorts of instruments, the worst where these blocks of wood that you bang together with sand paper. Man was it loud, ten kids (a little sister stayed also)! I had no idea it would be so bad, ha!

Have a good one,

szm, smz, abc………..I knew when I was complaining about it being Monday that Friday would be here before I knew it. And here it is, and my weekend has begun. I still don't know about tomorrow, but it's not looking good to go to the mountains. There is an Ice Festival at Cripple Creek with a carving competition. Oh, well. I didn't know that your brother had problems. Like you said, it's not a good idea to push anything. I'm sorry to hear that. Have a great weekend and fun at your aunt's party. Take care!

TowerofPower……Sorry you have a cold. Colds and bronchitis are really going around my town, and the cough lasts forever. Knock on wood so I don't catch it. Happy Birthday to your dad and enjoy the Mexican restaurant. Smart man spending $25 vs $75 on Valentine's dinner. I can't imagine spending $75 on any meal. I'm pretty thrifty. Have a fun weekend, and I hope you shake that cold. Later!

Hi Skaycog,

Yeah at this point, let's only talk happy things for the net 50! My bother, I thought he had turned to religion and gotten things together a while back, was going to drive a bread delivery truck, but then he slipped again, his girlfriend left him because she could not take any more, and that was that, he's not in school again :( It's rough, one of the things that makes it hard for me is that the support group for me and others in this situation is based around faith, I just could not swallow that. There was a guy at work that had been through similar, he was a great person to support me, but he's retired.

Anyway what the heck am I doing, supposed to only be happy! So anyway, yesterday a funny thing. Kids are waiting outside to go to school, I notice Jake is thrown rocks into the pond. I don't want to have dig the rocks out of the much so that the pump gets clogged, so I go to take the rooks out, and promptly fall through the ice! It's not deep or anything, but it was funny, cause I first slipped on the ice ad my right leg went through while my left bent and flew to the side. I only had time to change socks and shoes, kids were really laughing :)

Hi stormchasers!

I went to a fightjunior-league hockey game last night, part of our SAE chapter's winter social. Now I know where Five For Fighting got their name. The home team (Fargo Force) were up 2-1 at the end of the 1st period and scored another goal late in the 3rd to win 3-1. I enjoyed the game but some of my coworkers were bored since they showed up at the beginning of 2nd period and only got to see one goal.

Re: happy things, I got bored today and drew a thing that would make me happy: a '67 GTO coupe-utility.
<img src="http://i53.tinypic.com/2j63cbs.jpg" width="500"/>

I didn't have anything I had to do or anywhere I needed to be today, which should be good for relaxing except I get stircrazy from hanging around the house too long. My hobby 'workload' is pretty good when it's nice enough out to be in the garage, but I need some indoor hobbies I guess. I think this year I'll park my pickup at the family farm and bring the '96 Thunderbird back to Fargo for the summer, so that'll keep me occupied with all the little things it needs and I'll enjoy having both my behemoth RWD V8 coupes in the same place. I just need winter to end first.

smz, szm, zzz…………It's a beautiful day after a cold and dreary weekend. I do prefer sunshine and blue skies, especially when we're not getting any moisture along with the cloudy skies. How was your aunt's party Saturday? My weekend was pretty much the same as others……..shopping, cleaning, church, brunch with friends.

ptschett………your drawing is great! Any car I attempt to draw looks like a box on donuts. It's nice to see you here again.

Hi Skaycog,

It was very cold here but sunny and windy enough that most of that snow is gone. Party was good, my aunt was surprised. She thought we were coming over cause it was her husband's birthday, instead a whole bunch of family and friends came over after her work. Turns-out that her surgery is today, they had room to move it up a week. She was worried about that since it's the 13th, but I have a good feeling, bye bye cancer. Anyway she was tired though you could see, also working two days before this, that's her personality. Aga did a lot of the cooking, a cake, soup, and meat. It all got eaten, everybody really loved it. At the end though religion came-up and people were talking about contraception, why Catholics are against it. I thought it would be nice it I told them the history and reasoning behind it. Not mean judgmental or anything, I really thought they would appreciate it, learn something new to them, it's actually a sound argument as philosophical ones go. But two people started attacking me, wow people with attitudes like that upset me. It was like jezebel in real world ;)

Have a good one,
5164

• $kaycog says:

zms, smz, sir……….I hope your aunt's surgery went well. It's good that they brought it forward a week. The sooner the better! Your discussion and being attacked during conversation about Catholics and contraception are reasons why I don't discuss religion or politics. So many people can't just "discuss" things, they have to argue. I don't need that.

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Taco Tuesday!

5165

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi Skaycog,

The surgery went well. It lasted 113 minutes, which I thought would freak out my aunt so I told her two hours ;) I saw her last night after the Valentine's dinner at home. The doctor said that there was very little cancer, it had indeed been caught early on. Today she is supposed to try and walk. Aga is going to visit her this after noon. The Valentine's dinner went well, Jake and Michelle helped make while Aga went with Kevin for a hair cut. We made clam chowder, spaghetti, alfredo, garlic bread, salad, and raspberry cakes. All was as simple as I could do cause kids were helping and did not have a lot of time. For example the cakes, I got these six to a pack sponge cake circles, on that Jake put cream from a can and some raspberries. It was not an argument, it was an attack. When I was not even done yet, one guy said, "When's the last time you went to church." And before I said anything another man said, "I can tell it's been a long time." It's true probably the last time was for a funeral years ago, but still I thought it was some interesting history and religion I had pick-up in a class in college. They weren't interested, oh well.

<img src="http://www.selectric.org/oldcars/64volvo.jpg"> Happy Valentine's Stormies!

Have a good one,
5166

PS: Tower, how was auto show? Is there any place to get trinkets for the kids, like in years past I got pencil holders from VW, bracelets from Mazda, etc?

• Buickboy92 says:

@MZS: Hey MZS, I hope your Aunt is doing much better! Cancer is the worst. I think what those men said to you were very rude. In my opinion, I feel no need to go to Church(or synagogue in my case, but it would be cool to go as I've never been to one) as I feel that that a person can find God, in everyday life and not just on a Sunday, and that you can see the happiness in your day all week. So basically what I'm saying is that you don't need to go to Church everyday to have God in your life. Well I don't know how many people agree with me, but I just felt like putting it out there.

5167 – Happy Valentines Day! :)

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi BB!

Don't worry about the religion stuff, just bugged me the whole, hey we won't listen to you since you don't go to church even. They could have learned something, their loss. Again you are smarter than your age in your perspective here. good for you.

Did you do anything for the Valentine's? We watched some movies together yesterday. I also stuck post its to some candy for the kids with silly messages like "You are better than bacon!" hee hee hee.

My aunt is doing very well. Yesterday she was walking about and using the bathroom. Pain is less too.

Did you see the Buick wagon from a couple of weeks back here? The minty colored one from the '50s. It was sweet!

Have a good one,

• $kaycog says:

smz, zms, pdq……….I'm glad to hear that your aunt is doing pretty well. It really is great that it was caught in the early stages. Her outlook on life will be changed after going through this. Your Valentine's dinner sounds like it was a huge success. I like how your family does fun things together. Not much going on with me on this fine Wednesday. February is half over, and Spring is just around the corner. Happy Hump Day!

5169

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi Skaycog,

I'm making a note of this, Skaycog seems to have played Portal, ha! The dinner was not a huge success, Michelle was only the waitress for a little bit, and the kids ended-up not liking the spaghetti compared to mom's so I quickly had to get some food for the boys (Muchelle liked the alfredo). Now I have a huge pot of mediocre spaghetti to eat, and that's tough on account of the tomatoes, ha! But that's okay, I tried and we do do a lot of things together, that's nice. I got a comment when I bought the macbook, how my old grade school friend likes how I am always making things (I was helping Jake to fix the rollercoaster we had made after Max ran into it), I like that about us. But we're not perfect, lots of things we could do better. Like Jake was being mean yesterday regarding paint, I yelled. That sort of stuff happens a lot, but we try, best we can do really.

Looking forward to spring as well,
5170

• $kaycog says:

mzs, smz, blt……..Well, so much for that kind of Valentine's Dinner next year then, unless you learn how to make spaghetti like Mom. ;) Today is flying by, and I leave in about an hour for out-of-town business and then…………….CHINESE buffet! I went out to Japanese restaurant yesterday and, of course, I had my favorite Yakitori. When I find something I really like at a restaurant, I very seldom order anything else. Jguttes and I have incorporated our old numbers game into Stormchasers over yonder. I had forgotten how much fun it was. I just posted 8639. Happy Thursday!

Hi Skaycog,

I hope you enjoyed your Chinese. I try and do something different every year, I wonder what will be next year? I wrote on AT about the cassette player hidden in box and dinner/play one, maybe I should try and top that one? Kevin has flu, second day no school for him today. I stayed home until 1PM with him today. We did a lot of fun, like play video game, I read some more of The Hobbit to him, watched a little Over The Hedge, and made a really good domino set-up that only stopped in one place. But he seemed sad, said it's nothing, just bored, must be feeling pretty bad :(

My aunt is at home again, and feeling much better! now to just keep her from doing too much for the next six weeks like she is supposed to, going to be hard with her! Wow lots of train pics over there, ha! I'm glad you are doing that stuff still. I tried once here, there was a post Alff made with a photo, that happened to have a photo with a number, a couple of days later I replied with the next number, it only got a thumbs-up :( I saw the COTD that was for a women recently, ha! Someone made a funny comment about showing nipples, hee hee hee. That made me laugh. Anyway, the winner, she said she would steal a P1800 with an Otis Elevator key to get in the door. Would do little good, P1800 has an armored coil, she would have to bring a coil of her own, and also the ignition is wired differently on old Volvos than most other cars. She got a star for that comment, better than getting electrocuted I guess ;)

Have a good one,

smz, zms, blt………Busy Friday, but time is flying by. I hope Kevin is feeling better and cross fingers that it doesn't spread around family. I have a girlfriend who teaches third grade, and she had five kids out one day. Then, she missed a day herself even though she tried to thwart it off with Airborne (or something like that).

Yeah, the replies to my COTD awards really crack me up…….such witty guys.

What's up for you this weekend? Nothing in the works for me. I may have company Saturday from out-of-town, depends on a few things.

5173

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi Skaycog,

We have a really great weekend planned here! Today I am leaving early for the Chicago auto show! Jake. One of his friends, and his dad is going with for sure. I want Kevin to go too, but he did not want to go yesterday. He is feeling a lot better today and went to school today. He has to give his report about Wolverines and was excited about that :) Michelle wanted to go, but she is going to two birthday parties today. Then Saturday Jake has his birthday party here. Aga hired a reptile man to come over, there are supposed to be lizards and snakes, he will be surprised! We are also going to do a spinning top competition. Sunday is the last wrestling meet, and it seems like I am forgetting what are we doing after that on Sunday… I know Jake is going to a birthday party, but I just know Aga told me there was something else, oh well, that's my memory for you. I want to also play this thing called BrikWars with my kids on Saturday. http://www.brikwars.com/rules/2005/contents.htm LilWillie let me know about that on the book of faces. Here's what my sons made last night:

It's a pod racer from Episode One: Phantom Menace. "Yesterday my boys made a pod racer from lego. It's pretty sweet. Then the younger changed it a little and did not want to give it to the older. He punched him. Then the older tried to choke him. Ten minutes later they were playing lego again together like nothing happened."

Your freaking COTD trophies (and the comments) make me go every day back there, gah! Another nice one yesterday, cause I remember another photo from that set came-up in a number game before! Also that Volvo 144 guy, that was a kick-butt comment. Only thing, maybe lose the overdrive in most of the 140s, they tend to leak. but look at this:

I hope I caught you before you leave for the autoshow! A lot of companies are giving out those tote bags this year. I nabbed a bunch. I didn't see many other trinkets but did find a cool Fiat 500 magnet in the back of one of the Fiat brochures *(it's smaller than normal but really thick) that is now on my fridge. You'll have to let me know if you found anything else that I missed.

Also, make sure to check out the Nissan Commercial booth. They came out of left field with their booth professionals…totally unexpected, in a good way ;)

That is some great news about your aunt! I'm glad she got in early and didn't have much cancer.

Have fun at the show!

Happy Friday! Thankfully I got over my cold in record time (amazing what rest can do for a cold)! Valentine's day went well. The food was very good, but man, you cant make a habit out of that. Just too expensive. Dessert was the best part though, you get melted chocolate and lots of things to dip into it. I was so full I thought I would explode.

My brother and his girlfriend had an interesting Valentine's day though. They were getting all romantic in the bedroom with rose pedals and candles and whatnot when all of a sudden…his pillow catches fire from getting knocked into one of the candles! Talk about hot and heavy! They are both ok…I couldn't stop laughing when he told me this.

I hope you have a good time with your (possible) company on Saturday!

Hi Tower,

Don't worry you got to me in time. Thanks for the info, will definitely catch the Nissan commercial area! Aga went with one of her friends to Chicago once and I think they saw the statue then, I've never seen it yet though. The strangest romantic turned dangerous thing that ever happened to me was feathers. Aga had read somewhere that it's romantic to slice open a down feather pillow and sprinkle some of the feathers on a bed. Well why not two? Holy crap was there a huge pile of feathers on the bed. It was funny and I plopped down snow angel style and ended-up covered in feathers, but soon they went into my nose so funny became hard to breathe, and pfft pfft pfft, and then hilarious a feathered mostly naked dude with feathers floating around everywhere! She has a photo somewhere, I hope it's next to my casket years from now :)

I went out to dinner Saturday night for beef taco salad.

TowerofPower……..Your brother's Valentine's Day story still has me laughing. That is hilarious! I bet he thinks twice before using candles again. My company did come Saturday afternoon, and we had an enjoyable visit and went out to dinner. Other than that, weekend was the usual. I did watch some of the Daytona Shootout Saturday evening. It was more like a demolition derby. Jeff Gordon ending up on his roof was pretty frightening.

Whoops Skaycog, didn't get a notification, and was waiting all day to get this on here! <img src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/396277_1874709085577_1776713148_931707_1604383973_n.jpg" width="500"> Jake had a blast at his birthday party. Also Max really liked all the reptiles, though the python wanted to eat him I think. Car show was awesome as always. Some kid stuff was annoying, like of course Jake's friend had to use the bathroom when we were at the farthest place from them. So I only got to glance at FIAT. Nissan was great like Tower said, though too many blondes. Kia was pretty neat models too, all coordinated like that, matching colors and shoes. Best cars were the AMG wagon, the Lexus LFA, and the Kaiser Darrin. They did not have anything special this time for Telemundo day, or I did not find it. Best concept was the Volvo, by far, sorry Cadillac. One of the workers at Volvo was talking with two women looking at a XC90 I think it's called (nice straight 6) and she mentioned her first car was an old Volvo. So he says, "What was it, a '62?" I can tell the lady is thinking like "How old do I look exactly?" and the other one with her, "Is almost laughing" So I try and defuse the situation and say my car is a '67 Volvo. he just looks at me weird and takes them to the side to get their address to send them some brochures. (They were out, what!?) I would have expected some kind of acknowledgement for getting him out of a boneheaded situation he got himself into.

Yesterday we lost the kids. Well to my mom and dad, it was planned. We were going to go to an onsen. It is like a spa. But Aga ate and drank too much and then felt terrible, so we did nothing except go to sleep. Well I had a lot of trouble sleeping. Aga said we would go on a date before work to breakfast at the pancake house. I gave-up sleeping in the morning, then it got later and later, then I worked on my bike so that we could go eat and I ride to work. She woke-up, then in the morning she said no way to breakfast, to hung over and she could not remember. I was really bummed :(

But the weekend was great. I pulled Astrid out. Put in the battery and mostly removed the radio (bought a new used one from Germany) and adjusted the carbs and valves. Astrid runs great. Funny thing, i almost did it twice, the valve lash adjustment. I forgot to put a spark plug wire back on after I was done. Then she ran but really lumpy. I had thought I adjusted some valve wrong. Was worried, but had heard no ticking or worse, just car was really shakey and uneven sounding at idle. So I go to unbolt the valve cover again and then realize what I had done ;)

Have a good one,

zms, smz, xyz………On occasion, I don't get a notification either, and after several hours, I come and check, like you did. That's a really cute pic of Jake getting his nose licked. A reptile birthday party is really a great idea for little kids. I don't mind lizards, but NO SNAKES!!!!!!! Your trip to the Chicago Auto Show sounds like it went quite well. Cute Volvo story. I've never heard the word, onsen, before. Is that Polish? Aga's drinking too much is exactly why I don't overdo it with alcohol. A couple of times of feeling like crap and being sick was enough to teach me not to overindulge.

I was so surprised to see the GT40 MkIII on Last Call here this morning. I always read it in the morning with first cup of coffee and before getting dressed. I normally don't comment until later but this morning was an exception to that routine.

On J. this morning, I had a reply to a comment in our original numbers thread. The guy said he came across our thread and was following it, but it was at a dead end and wondered what happened to it. So, I explained and then linked him to current Stormchaser thread and invited him to join us.

Happy Taco Tuesday!

Max seems to have nothing against reptiles, but squirrels, whoa watch out! He saw on on the walk this morning, crazy dog, I love him.

An onsen is a Japanese word. It's a spa: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=&amp… We've never been to this one, only the ones in Japan. This one is Korean and one of my aunt's friends recommended it. Basically you enter and then you spend as much time there as you want. They even have places to sleep. We were goingot bring Sequence and get massages. I saw steaks in the fridge yesterday, Aga had wrapped them in bacon, I think she is trying to make-up or something for it today :) Oh that reminds me, saw my aunt again this weekend, she is doing very well, just walking slower and pain not much worse than soreness or after child birth she says, other than that you could not even tell anything had happened anymore.

That's funny and great about the guy following the storm chasing!

Have a good one,

smz, msz, max……….What a cute picture of Max and reptile. How funny that he thinks it's okay, but not squirrels. That guy on the numbers/stormchaser game did comment last night. Maybe we'll make to 10K after all. We're in the 8600s now. Nothing new with me. I washed TGUSA last night and laughed a lot. Those guys are more at ease than they were last year. It's a very entertaining show. I have appointment in an hour. Happy Hump Day! Oh yeah……..did you have bacon-wrapped steak?

5183

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi Skaycog,

I'm so pleased that you will make 10K. It's so much your personality, like a compulsion, good luck! Aga is trying to buy a gecko for Jake, she has been having not much luck for a while now. Certain geckos make great pets as far as lizards go, so she has been looking for those. Today is his birthday. We are eating dinner at Chucky Cheese for him.

Aga fell asleep yesterday very early, did not get to eat steak together. She ate while I was doing some car pooling for wrestling, then I ate when kids were asleep and we played Sequence, oh well, was great food though. Going to get Thai today. I don't have cable and I gave-up watching that show last year. I don't get to watch a lot of TV and there are certain shows like Modern Family and In the Middle that I like to watch with the family. Also Gloria in Modern Family is incredibly beautiful, reminds me of Aga. Here's that neat-o Darrin from the auto show:

zms, smz, pow……..That's a lovely Darrin! I really like it. How did pizza party go? Happy Birthday to Jake, a day late. Crazy Colorado weather………at 5:30 this morning it was 50 degrees here with clear skies. Two hours later, it was 30 degrees and heavy sleet and now heavy snow. It wasn't in last night's forecast. Depending on snow accumulations in the mountains, my Saturday trip there may be postponed again. We can always reschedule……..I love the snow, and we need the moisture.

Happy Thursday!

Pizza was great, really it's all about the silly games they play. Kevin gave Jake all his tickets that was very sweet. He also played basketball with me. Little things like that make my day! They have a game side by side racer Ford Racing has a GT. Meet Spatzie (Schatzie means treasure in German and this is a spotted leopard gecko hence the funny name). Aga had a really hard time finding a healthy lizard that is good with kids, success. She was about to give-up and just get a toy car. A funny thing, he (we think, not 100% sure) really digs Piano Man by Billy Joel. He was licking me last night on my fingers :) And he shakes his tail if he is upset or about to jump so you have a god way to know if he is in a mood to be handled.

We have had strange weather here too. Not this morning but the two before there was considerable snow in the morning, then all gone by the evening. Going to a late lunch with Aga today, yippie! I know it's Thursday, and the tacos are good at the taco place, but it's cream of chicken rice soup day as well at the Pancake House.

Have a good one,

smz, szm, tlc………..What a pretty gecko. How many years do they usually live? I've never known anybody to have a gecko as a pet. How was your lunch with Aga yesterday? I went out to dinner at Chili's last night……had my usually, steak nachos. Yum! The unexpected snowstorm yesterday ended as quickly as it started. We got 1.5", and it was all gone by late afternoon. My trip to the mountains tomorrow is still on. Woo! Woo! TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5187

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi Skaycog,

These geckos used to live like 6-10 years in captivity, then people figured out how to better take care of them. Like they absorb calcium and certain vitamins through the skin and need different wavelengths of light for synthesizing and breaking down other vitamins from diet. There are some more than 30 years old now! But they have been getting more inbred the ones that you get at many pet stores. So now a lot of them have genetic issues and again 10 years or so is good. Aga did not get him from a pet store with a good reputation. He has a good think tail, so has that going for him. But we have since learned sand is bad news, so have gotten a shammie style liner. Also he is now eating really juicy crickets instead of those meal worms. Oh and a different heat lamp (for three total to get all the light he needs a day). See that first store was not great, but Aga looked long and hard for one, what can you do? I bet we end-up taking care of this guy when Jake moves-out someday. I like him, I'm fine with that ;)

We had a lot of snow starting yesterday! An honest 6 inches of very heavy wet snow! It got really bad while I was walking Max last night. At first it was pretty, but then it came horizontal right at our faces on the way home, whoa. But this morning after snow blowing and shoveling he ran in the snow again. He loves that. He has a "I'm happy!" yip he makes, glad he got some more snow this winter :) I hope enough stays today for sledding. The kids went to school dressed in PJs this morning, it's silly, they can earn that for each class, and they all did.

Food yesterday was great, this time I got gyros platter, had real olives and goat cheese, nice, still have some left for lunch today. Aga had a avocado chicken salad, she liked that, go figure. Steak… Yum. Next time I will get gypsy steak if they still have it as a special. The den meeting went great yesterday, was about video games :) Did you see the forums they now have here? Neat-o!

Have a good one,
5188

• $kaycog says:

szm, smz, fbi………..I know nothing about geckos, but I love the Geico gecko, especially when he line dances. Do they ever bite? I also love the pig that goes weeeeeeeeeeee all the time. I'm easily amused.

You did have a nice snow. I wish we would have gotten more, but at least the mountains did. What plans do you have for the weekend? It's still a go for the mountains for me tomorrow.

I saw about the forums here. We'll see how it goes. I don't know some of the user names the writers here use. Do I know The Professor? He cracked me up in the coffee thread today.

Have a fun weekend!

5189

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi Skaycog,

Did you get to the mountains? Snow here is mostly melted, had a pretty full weekend here, no chance to go sledding when it was not windy before the snow melted :( Geckos do not bite often, one of the reasons we got one. I don't know who the Prof is, he makes me smile often as well. I know his initials are D. M. but he is not engineerd, or so I believe. I will probably be pretty busy these next two weeks with work, sorry. Kevin and I were excited to watch NASCAR yesterday, now it is postponed until 6PM our time tonight. He might miss first boy scout meeting today, we'll see if there is a Daytona 500 tonight. He got the arrow of light award on Sunday, very happy about that. Jake's den advanced as well, have Tiger now. The were really impressed with the order of the arrow scouts dressed in ceremonial head gear during the awards :)

Have a good one,

• $kaycog says:

szm, zms, pop………Yes, I went to Cripple Creek Saturday to see the tail end of ice sculptures from the Ice Festival two weeks previously. They still looked darn good for three weeks later. The colder temps at 10K elevation has everything to do with that. While driving, we saw lots of deer, of course, a few Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep and a pair of coyotes together. I've NEVER seen coyotes together. I don't know if it's mating season or what. We even played a few slot machines, and I came home a winner.

I like NASCAR, as you know, but I can't sit and watch a whole race. I have it on TV and listen to it while I'm doing stuff around the house. Then when it's down to 30 or so laps to go, I sit and watch.

Then at some point Jake went and added something to the list. But Aga noticed last night, didn't work Jake, sorry ;) We thought it was hilarious though!

The coyotes might be mating. A few weeks back we saw two together as well. We were in the car driving across my work as a shortcut and had the GPS on. We have this silly voice called Squirrelly that we were using then and the GPS said, "Sssssh…. I think I just saw a fox." Then we see a coyote on the right and all of a sudden another runs across the road to that one. So I think that was a male going after a female.

Glad you got to see the mountains. It rained here last night, hope it rains again today. If the salt is gone, I will take Astrid with Jake and Michelle to Kevin's birthday party. We did not expect all the boys he invited to say yes! Six, so they will all fit in the minivan. But that only leaves room for one of Jake or Michelle :(

Have a good one,
Mike

• $kaycog says:

szm, smz, cat……..Guess who's back? Alphamazing with his COTD statistics. Do you remember him? I always enjoyed his addition to COTD. I got a big laugh at what Jake added to the grocery list. That needs to be framed…….I love it! Interesting that you saw a pair of coyotes too. When I have time (and if I remember), I'll Google it to see if they are mating at this time. Nothing new with me……..stinkin' wind is blowing again. It was so bad yesterday on I-25 in Southern Colorado that it blew three semis over. They finally put a ban of high-profile vehicles on the interstate.

Edit: I mean Happy Hump Day! Duh.

5193

• Buickboy92 says:

@MZS: Good Morning MZS :) It's raining here too, looks to be all day. I love that Kaiser Darrin you saw at the autoshow. It must of been amazing. Have you read any books lately? I've been reading Harry Potter. I stopped reading it a few years ago, as I guess I just lost interest. Now though I've had a lot of interest in them again, and I love them(Always have). I'm now on Book 5: The Order of the Phoenix.(Just started reading it, last night).

5194

• $kaycog says:

msz, mzs, bob……….Now we know: "Coyotes mate for life. Between January and March is the
breeding period. Most do not breed until they are two years old.
The female selects and maintains the den. They usually dig their
own dens but sometimes they use an old badger hole or fix up a
natural hole.
Females carry their young for over two months. One to
twelve pups are born in either April or May."

Holy cow! One to 12 pups? I had no idea!

5195

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi BB!

Hope your family and you have been doing well! I'm 'reading' Go Like Hell right now, might have been recommended my Skaycog a while back. But it's going slowly, as I do not have much time. I am reading the Hobbit to Kevin before bed, that's pretty fun. There is also an encyclopedia of automobiles I checked-out from the library and I read that when I have a little bit of time for an article or so. I think Kevin read all of the HP books and Michelle most of them, I never did, I might some day.

Hi Skaycog,

A dozen, whoa. And it seems it must have been the female that ran across the road in front of us. You know I called it Taco Thursday last week, ha! had pizza just now myself. What did you have? I remember Alphamazing, wow he's back. I wonder if he knows about here? Oh and glad nobody was around here at work for the trophy you gave!

Have a good one,
5196

• $kaycog says:

smz, szm, omg……….Yes, a dozen pups blew my mind too. Alphamazing wasn't there yesterday which disappointed me. I was hoping he's be back on a daily basis. It's a beautiful day and NO wind (knock on wood). I'm going out-of-town on my usual bi-monthly trip. Chinese buffet……YUM!

Happy Whatever Thursday!

5197

• mr. mzs zsm msz esq says:

Hi Skaycog,

Enjoy Chinese. Aga is on diet, so no Pancake House for me today :( This is crazy though, she is on diet cause her mom is coming. Women, I don't get them. I just checked, Alphamazing did comment yesterday on COTD, a little earlier than you. Get appointed now about that! I never got that dis-appointed. How it could mean that? I guess I also do not understand English.

Have a good one,
5198

• $kaycog says:

zsm, zms, nba……..You're right, Alphamazing did add his statistics Wednesday………don't know why I missed it. Sometimes, I don't understand English either, and sometimes I don't speak it well. I also don't understand why Aga is on a diet because her mother is coming. Just because I'm a woman, it doesn't mean that I understand me. ???? The predicted snow missed us last night, but it is much colder today. I'm getting used to it being lighter in the morning and real soon we change to daylight savings time, and it'll be darker in the morning. I think I complain to you twice a year about the time changing. I still wish they'd leave it alone. TGIF!

5199……….I'll find us a new place now. I'll be back.

Clarkson is a regular columnist in the 'serious' right-wing papers in the UK. This sort of stuff pops up as 'humorous asides' in his columns fairly regularly. It is the kind of stuff you have to say to gain admission. Personally I liked him better at the start when he was the consumer reporter on the old TG–bad haircut, pimples, plimsolls–and so, so eager to please. These days he's really only fit to report on how expensive automobile 'x' feels as it rotates off the test track once you've driven beyond your very modest talents. I guess that is still consumer reporting of a sort.
